Coming SOON.
Today, Kip Moore announced his sixth studio album, Solitary Tracks, will be out everywhere on February 28th, and it will feature a whopping 23 songs on the tracklist.
Kip released several new songs towards the end of 2024, including “Learning As I Go,” “Live Here To Work,” “Flowers in December,” “Wildfire,” and today, he put out another new one called “Bad Spot,” which is easily my favorite so far as he reflects on love lost and being in unable to fully embrace a relationship for reasons with nothing to do with the girl.
The last time we heard from Kip in an official capacity in terms of an album was when he put out his fifth studio album Damn Love in early 2023, though he’s turned the page to a new chapter, now signed with Virgin Music Group, after leaving his longtime label MCA Nashville last year.
It’s also the most ambitious album he’s ever released in terms of the length and scope coming in at 23 songs, which were co-produced by Moore with Jaren Johnston and additional production by Oscar Charles and Jay Joyce (Eric Church, Lainey Wilson).
Kip says his goal is to always be authentic and true to himself, and this project has been a journey in terms of looking inward and taking a gamble on himself:
“I’m never going to cheat by just trying to write what I think people want to hear, or hold onto a sound that worked for me. I’m going to always be authentic with myself, with every record, and all I ever hope is that people find a little solace.
This project is a journey in itself, so I hope it helps people navigate their own life. There’s no pattern you have to follow, and sometimes you gotta gamble on yourself. You gotta be bold enough to trust your gut, and willing to roll those dice if you believe in something.”
Kip has been at it for years now, and truly puts on an incredible live show, so it’s exciting to see he’s doing it a little differently this time and putting out a lot of new music at once (which is also a risk, but I digress…).
I’ll be honest, Damn Love was kind of a miss for me in terms of how mediocre it was compared to his other records, so I’m eexcited by the prospect of a fresh start with his new label and inspirations, as well as the sound of the new songs we’ve already heard.
It already feels more authentic and genuine to who he is as an artist than some of the other more recent music he’s put out prior to this record, so I have high hopes for KM6.
Solitary Tracks is due out everywhere next month on February 28th, and you can listen to “Bad Spot” below.
