That’s great Mr. Biden… but not what we’re really all concerned with right now.
The Commander N’ Chief (for a couple of more weeks) was in Los Angeles, California, earlier today for multiple reasons. For one, Joe Biden was visiting family as his granddaughter Naomi gave birth in LA. The other, more serious reason as to why he’s there is to witness the horrible tragedy that is unfolding in the California wildfires.
Blazing and uncontrollable fires that were apparently sparked in the residential community known as the Pacific Palisades have killed at least two people and have left hundreds of people without a home in the greater Los Angeles area. Footage from the devastation looks like that out of horror and apocalyptic movies, like this clip that a man took as his home was completely surrounded by the flames:
Firefighters and first responders are doing their best to control the wildfire, but they’ve run into a number of issues. Strong Santa Ana winds continue to spread and empower the existing fires that are burning, and the Los Angeles Fire Department insists that they are running out of water, as fire hydrants have failed in much of the area. Those challenges have led to most of the fires that are burning in California to be categorized as “zero percent contained.”
Over 80,000 people have been evacuated, and more than 300,000 homes are without power – all while air quality levels have reached hazardous classification. It’s a complete and utter disaster, though the brave firefighters are doing all they can to fight the flames to save buildings, communities, and lives.
With this being such a serious and heartbreaking situation, you’d think that the President of the United States would it treat it as such. Though he covered some of the devastation in the press briefing alongside California Governor Gavin Newsom, he undercut everything when he tried to shift the focus to two pieces of “good news” that he had gotten.
To be fully transparent, when I first saw this clip, I had to make sure the internet wasn’t fooling me. I thought this might have been the latest addition to the ever expanding world of AI-powered deep fakes, but I was wrong. This is something that the current President of the United States actually said:
“It’s astounding what has happened. Only one piece of good news: my son lives out here and his wife. They got a notification yesterday that their home was probably burned to the ground.
Today, it appears that it’s still standing, they’re not sure. But, the good news is, I’m a great-grandfather as of today. I’ve got a granddaughter… I’ll remember this day for a lot of reasons.”

And, with that, the press briefing with President Biden on the Los Angeles wildfires was concluded. pic.twitter.com/ws5WXXXKMD

Yikes… you can safely classify that one right there as “tone deaf.”
Biden declined to answer any questions from the media afterwards as well, even though there are plenty that need answering. Though he didn’t shy away from sharing details about his newborn great-granddaughter, who he initially said was a “10 pound baby girl” before he winced and seemingly corrected himself, saying “baby boy.”
Becoming a great-grandfather is undoubtedly a big milestone in life, but President Joe Biden has to have some awareness in this situation (to be fair, not sure he’s even “aware” of where he is most days). But with a natural disaster engulfing a large portion of Los Angeles – and with no end in sight thanks to harsh weather conditions and a lack of water – that’s the sole focus of a briefing. Not a good look at all has Biden (and many others) counts down the days until he leaves the White House…
Although… it’s not the first time he went off the rails while discussing a devastating wildfire. When the Hawaiian island of Maui suffered a series of terrible wildfires in 2023, fires that burned over 17,000 acres and caused over $5.5 billion worth of damage, Biden started rambling about the one time he lost his whole house in a fire. Only problem was… it never happened. The small kitchen fire was contained in 20 minutes…
Biden does a hit-and-run visit to the site of the catastrophic Maui fire and wheels out his disgusting lie about “losing his house in a fire”.
He’s a despicable ghoul. pic.twitter.com/ctwUIhjrGx
