Nothing like having a family to motivate you.
Of course nobody knows that better than Jelly Roll. The Grammy-nominated country superstar has often spoken about the moment behind bars when he found out he had a child, and how becoming a father to his now-16 year old daughter Bailee motivated him to turn his life around.
But now that he’s married and settled down with his wife, influencer and host of the Dumb Blonde podcast Bunnie Xo, Jelly Roll is ready to do all that he can to better himself.
Jelly has been open about his recent fitness journey, dropping an incredible 60 lbs. with some help from fitness expert Gary Brecka, in preparation for his first 5k that he just completed last month.
But he’s not stopping any time soon, having already set a goal to run a half-marathon later this year. And on an episode of the Barstool Sports podcast Bussin’ With the Boys, Jelly Roll revealed his deeply personal reason for wanting to take control of his health: He and his wife, Bunnie Xo, are hoping to have a child of their own.
“My wife and I are talking about having a baby. And it really made me realize, at almost 40, I was like, that means I got to live to at least 60. I got to see this kid into college.
And my plan was never to be 60. It was to be like, 55…
I’d like to see my 60s. And that really lit it up.”
That’s definitely some pretty strong motivation.
After the podcast aired, Bunnie shared the clip while speaking about their journey towards having a child together:
“We had planned on doing this privately, but decided our IVF journey needed to be shared because we’ve always been so open. And with all odds stacked against us, it’s already been hard & we have only just begun.
We have been meeting with IVF doctors and exploring all of our options to add to our family.
J & I are SO excited & scared all at the same time. We genuinely never thought we’d want to add to our family but something changed this year & we both just want a piece of us together to add to our already perfect family with Bailee and Noah.“
She also captioned the post with “Baby DeFord 2026,” so it sounds like if the good Lord is willing, there will be a new addition to the Jelly Roll household in a couple of years.
I’ve watched my good friends and family go through their own fertility journeys as they tried to have kids, so I know how emotionally draining and heartbreaking the whole process can be, and I can’t imagine having to go through that publicly.
But here’s to hoping that all goes well for Bunnie and Jelly, and that we see a new little Roll out on the road soon.
