Garth Brooks Cancels Additional Kansas City Tour Date After Bots Flooded Ticket Sales

Garth Brooks has had it up to HERE with the bots, and made the tough decision to cancel a Kansas City tour date that was just added to his Blame It All On My Roots Tour.

From the very first announcement of the country music superstar’s tour, Garth has done all he can to put tickets in the hands of real fans. Time and time again, that battle has proved to be challenging. And things got so bad with one of his latest tour date ticket drops that Brooks made the call to pull the plug on the show altogether.

With the Kansas City shows quickly approaching, the “Callin’ Baton Rouge” singer once again added a third matinee show after originally scheduling just two on Friday, November 6th, and Saturday, November 7th. The tickets for the additional show went on sale the morning of October 23.

Not long after the tickets became available, Garth’s team took to social media to announce they were shutting down tickets sales because of “excessive bot activity,” an issue that Brooks has desperately tried to avoid with this arena tour:

“Due to excessive bot activity, ticket sales for Garth’s third show in Kansas City have been shut down. Garth and the promoters are evaluating next steps and the future of the show. We appreciate your patience and will share updates as soon as possible.”

Even Garth himself came out and made a statement about the bot issue that occurred with the matinee show that was added for Kansas City. He apologized profusely, and told fans that he and his team are doing all they can to avoid the dreaded ticket-buying-bots:

“The bot situation is out of hand. It’s been progressively getting worse on this tour. With that said, my concern is for the people who managed to buy tickets today for the third show in Kansas City before the bots crashed the on sale. I will personally look into what can be done. You have my word that all that can be done will be done. You have my deepest apologies for the results and my most sincere appreciation for your efforts today.”

And now, it looks like Garth has decided the best course of action is to cancel that Saturday matinee show altogether.

In an announcement through Brooks’ website, they made the tough call to fight the bots by removing the additional show. The few fans that were able to weather the flurry of bots when tickets became available will be automatically refunded:

“When tickets went on sale that morning, more than 90,000 people were in the queue. Most of that number turned out to be bots. The bots flooded the on-sale, holding tickets throughout the floor and lower bowl, creating a scenario that limited access to floor or lower bowl tickets.

AXS and the team at T-Mobile Center acted quickly to shut down the on-sale. There will be no Saturday matinee performance in Kansas City. Those who actually were able to buy tickets to the matinee will be automatically refunded to the original method of payment used for purchase.”

What a bummer for everyone involved… bots really are the worst. Though this matinee show didn’t work out, I’m glad that Garth Brooks is doing all he can to stand up against the epidemic of robot ticket buyers. He’s doing all the right things with his Blame It All On My Roots Tour and still can’t outsmart the bots or alleviate the larger issue at hand.
