New York Giants Have Embraced John Denver’s “Country Roads” As They Start Training Camp In West Virginia

Giants West Virginia

The New York Giants are going to be the West Virginia Giants (has a nice ring to it, eh?) for training camp.

Believe it or not, we’re only six weeks away from the return of the NFL. Soon, footballs will be flying, bets will be placed, and games will be decided by the one player on the team who actually uses their foot. Training camps are ramping up all across the country, fantasy football teams are band fanbases are full of hope… thus are ready to be disappointed once the games actually start.

And speaking of training camps, the New York Giants – with John Harbaugh at the helm – headed down to West Virginia for their training period. They set up shop at The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, and their practice facility – for the time being – is beautifully framed by the Allegheny Mountains.

After their practice concluded on Wednesday, quarterback Jaxson Dart said he’s loved being in “The Mountain State” for training camp, and says the team has already grown closer during their time there:

“This is like old school: It’s like what you see in the movies. love it. I love the outdoors, so I feel right at home… There’s not a ton of things to do around here, so it forces us to be together and we love each other as a team. I’m really excited about it.”

It looks like a beautiful place to get ready for the NFL season.

Some media members got down to the training camp site a bit early to get a video of where the New York franchise will be practicing, and the location of the Giants’ training camp got some attention online:

“A look at where the Giants will be holding training camp in West Virginia.”

And it’s only fitting that the New York Giants have adopted the state’s official song while they are there.

Much like the Mountaineers of West Virginia, and the U.S. Men’s Soccer National Team during their most recent run in the World Cup, the Giants have been vibing to John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” To really get the team in the West Virginia spirit, Harbaugh played the track right before the first team meeting.

When asked about he and his team’s stay in West Virginia, the first-year Giants head coach raved about White Sulphur Springs, and confirmed that they are all in on the “Country Roads” state of mind:

“Thrilled to be here. The opening song of our meeting was of course (‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’). You better believe it. It was great. A lot of the guys knew the words. I knew the words. It was fun to kind of get here and be a part of it.”

Would love to see a video of John Harbaugh leading a sing along of “Take Me Home, Country Roads”

The Giants were already going to be a fun team to root for in the 2026-27 season. Now that it’s been confirmed that they are John Denver fans, and love the state of West Virginia? They might be gaining some new fans from “The Mountain State.”
