Eerie…

The NASCAR world is still in shock after the sudden and tragic passing of the legendary two-time Cup Series champion Kyle Busch.

Busch passed away on Thursday at just 41 years old after suffering from severe pneumonia that progressed into sepsis. And since then, everybody’s thoughts and prayers have been with his family, including his parents Tom and Gaye and his brother Kurt, but especially his wife Samantha and their two children 11-year old Brexton and 4-year old Lennix.

Over the weekend the family made their first public appearance since Busch’s passing, during an emotional tribute ahead of the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Obviously the healing process is just starting for the family, but in an eerie coincidence, Samantha spoke just a few months ago about what she would do if her husband passed away.

Samantha and Kyle were open about their struggles to conceive, and were fierce advocates for IVF through their Bundle of Joy Fund. Last year, Samantha was even invited to the White House to speak about her advocacy.

And during a conversation on her Certified Oversharer podcast in November 2025, Samantha shared something that she said she had never told anybody before:

“A lot of people ask me what we have done with our embryos because we still have some embryos. I can’t part with them. We’re paying to freeze them. They have to come with me, I don’t know what else to do at this point because I love them so much.”

Samantha says that her and Kyle assumed they were done having kids, despite having the frozen embryos, but she says that they talked about what she would do in the case that Kyle would unexpectedly pass away:

“He was like, ‘We’re done having kids.’ And I’m like, ‘But what if?’

I told him the most morbid story the other day. I was like, ‘What if you passed? I would have to have another kid to be connected to you and name that child after you.’

He was like, ‘What is wrong with you?'”

How heartbreaking that it was something she had planned for.

The Bundle of Joy Fund was founded in 2015 by Kyle and Samantha to provide financial support to couples undergoing IVF, and so far the foundation has awarded 178 grants totaling over $2.3 million dollars, which has helped welcome 111 babies.

In a previous interview, Samantha opened up on their motivation to start the fund:

“We were fortunate to be able to afford IVF treatments but it devastated us to know that for many couples, getting their financial estimate would be the end of the road for them.

In that moment, we knew this struggle was put on us for a special reason. After our son Brexton was born, we started the Bundle of Joy Fund to help other couples become parents by granting them financial grants to alleviate at least some of the financial burdens associated with the IVF process.

Seeing the families we have helped with their babies has helped us to make sense of our own difficult journey to conceive. It was worth all the pain, shots, the months of trying and roller coaster of emotions because it gave us the unique perspective of what these couples face and a strong desire to want to help others.”

What an incredible legacy to leave behind.
