Country music is taking over the Yellowstone universe… and this time, it’s not just their music.

This afternoon, another country star was announced as a cast member for a Yellowstone spinoff show, as Deadline reports that Morgan Wade is joining the cast of the spinoff show Dutton Ranch. It finds fan-favorites Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly reprising their roles as Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton in the sequel, which is set to premiere on May 15th on Paramount+, and their new show has been described as “Yellowstone Season 6.”

The synopsis for the series goes like this:

“Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton gamble everything on a new life in South Texas, but the promise of building a future far from the ghosts of Yellowstone quickly collides with brutal new realities and a rival ranch that will stop at nothing to protect its empire.”

Morgan will play a character named Carol, who is a bartender at the local watering hole in Rio Paloma, Texas, who sees it all.

It’s her first professional acting gig, aside from starring in her own music videos, and of course, she’s one of quite a few country artists ho have had acting roles in shows related to the Yellowstone universe, including Yellowstone itself, where Ryan Bingham played Walker in five seasons, and Lainey Wilson starred in season five as Abby. And most recently, Riley Green’s debut acting gig aired this past Sunday on the other Yellowstone spinoff staring Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton, Marshals.

Morgan released her debut album Reckless in 2021, and subsequently put out albums Psychopath, Obsessed, and most recently The Party Is Over (recovered), and she has gained a loyal fanbase through touring and pouring her heart into her incredibly honest and beautiful lyrics.

Morgan took to Instagram to share the exciting news, saying she’s “proud” to be part of the cast and “grateful for the opportunity”:

“Excited to finally share this. Proud to be part of ‘Dutton Ranch’ and grateful for the opportunity. Can’t wait for y’all to see. Premieres May 15th on Paramount Plus.”

It’s really cool to see country music not only taking over from a musical standpoint, we all know the original Yellowstone show certainly helped push it to the forefront of mainstream music, but now to see so many country artists I love get gigs as actors is incredible too.

Ed Harris and Annette Bening will also star Dutton Ranch alongside Juan Pablo Raba, Jai Courtney, J.R. Villarreal, Marc Menchaca and Natalie Alyn Lind. Finn Little returns as Carter, as well.

Dutton Ranch is produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios, and the first season will include nine episodes. It was created by Chad Feehan (who also serves as showrunner) and is based on characters created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, though this new series will take place in Texas, not Montana. Sheridan and Linson exec produce alongside David C. Glasser, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Christina Alexandra Voros, Michael Friedman, Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, and Keith Cox.

They dropped the official trailer recently too, and it looks like we’re in for a wild ride, not that I would expect anything less from Rip and Beth… check it out:
