It’s out everywhere tonight.
Ella Langley’s highly-anticipated album Dandelion is dropping tomorrow (well tonight at midnight EST), April 10th, and her latest single “Choosin’ Texas” is already the biggest song of her career, and is on its way to becoming the biggest song of 2026 in ANY genre.
And as of this morning, she’s one of the top-nominated artists being up for Ella Langley is one of the top nominees for the 61st Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards, earning seven nominations with Single of the Year for “Choosin’ Texas,” Song of the Year for “Choosin’ Texas,” Music Event of the Year for “Don’t Mind If I Do,” as well as Female Artist of the Year Visual Media of the Year, Artist-Songwriter of the Year and Single of the Year (Producer), her first nomination credited as a producer.
Her album is easily one of the most highly-anticipated of the year, and the intro and outro on the 18-song tracklist are extremely personal, as she will open and close out her sophomore project with the centuries-old folk song, “Froggy Went A Courtin’,” which dates back to at least 1548. It’s very popular in the South and Appalachia, and I was intrigued when I saw it on her tracklist, because I figured there was some personal tie and reason for including it to bookend the album.
And this afternoon, just hours from the big release, Ella revealed the very personal reason she had for cutting this one in the studio, sharing an adorable video of her as a young girl, maybe three or four-years-old or so, on home video dancing around as her grandfather (I’m assuming that’s who it is) plays the song and sings with an acoustic guitar:
“If you’re wondering where the intro & outro for this record come from…”
She’s talked a lot about how personal and true to herself this whole album is, and while I haven ‘t heard it yet, it seems like that will certainly be a huge theme considering this song in particular and how special it is to the Alabama native.
The video is just precious, and I’m sure her grandaddy and that little girl in her video would be very proud of everything she’s accomplished and how much success she’s found doing what she loves:
