If this is actually the premise for a song, it will be the first country song of its kind (well, if you don’t count pretty much everything Conway Twitty put out). Last April, Kacey Musgraves had the internet shook after she tweeted the following:
“Is it possible to die of horniness? Asking for a friend.”

And yesterday on X, Kacey retweeted her on tweet from almost a year ago, and also answered a fan question about her sixth studio album, referred to as “KM6” for now:
“Care to share more about KM6?”
Kacey replied with a cow, hinting that she has something up her sleeve:

She also has billboards up which fans have been spotting that reads:
“Dry spell? Call for a real good time.”
Along with listing a phone number, and when you call the number, you hear a teaser of what I imagine will be the lead single of a (hopefully) forthcoming album. The lyrics certainly point to the fact that she might be ready to answer her own question when it comes to her aforementioned tweet:
“It’s been a real long 335 days,
And the last time, it wasn’t good anyway,
I’m so lonely,
Lonely with a capital ‘H,’
If you know what I mean…”
When you call the number, you also get a text that says fans are entering the “middle of nowhere,” which could potentially be the name of the song or even the album:
“Hi, it’s Kacey. Click the link before you lose service… Welcome to the Middle of Nowhere.”
Scroll over to the third slide to listen to the song:
Kacey signed to the recently relaunched Lost Highway Records as its flagship artist last year, which was a full-circle moment for her considering she returned to the label that first signed her in 2011, before it was previously absorbed by Mercury Nashville.
The name “Lost Highway” was of course inspired by the classic Hank Williams song, and tends to lean towards signing more traditional country artists, so my hope is that means Kacey might be planning to return to her very country roots with this next album, or at least something that is more in line with iconic albums like Pageant Material.
Kacey put out a really solid album called Deeper Well in 2024, which featured an incredible song called “The Architect,” that very deservedly won the Grammy Award for Best Country Song in 2025. I am always so excited when she releases new music, she’s a brilliant artist and incredibly gifted writer, and this next song and chapter is certainly intriguing with how she’s already setting it up… stay tuned.
