Do we already have the script for next season?
Every year it seems like the NFL has to fight off accusations that the league is “scripted,” whether that’s responding to terrible calls from referees on the field or denying that the Super Bowl logo colors correspond to the teams in the big game.
Of course the Super Bowl logo conspiracy has been around for a while, and seems to pop up every year. Basically, people claim that past Super Bowl logos have “predicted” who matches up against one another in the big game.
It really started when Super Bowl 56’s logo had an orange and yellow color scheme, with the Cincinnati Bengals (orange) and Los Angeles Rams (yellow) playing in the game. Then the logo for Super Bowl 57 featured green and red as its colors, and featured the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs facing off against each other.
The conspiracy seemed to die with Super Bowl LVIII when the purple and red logo failed to predict the matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers.
No worries though, because the conspiracy theorists had an explanation for that too: Apparently the 49ers were the red team while Kansas City Chiefs were the purple team. And why were the Chiefs purple? Because Taylor Swift was the main topic of conversation surrounding the team’s Super Bowl appearance given her relationship with tight end Travis Kelce, and Taylor’s Speak Now album features a purple album cover.
A little bit of a stretch? Sure. But they had to make the conspiracy theory fit somehow.
The conspiracy theory was back in full force in 2025 when the Chiefs and the Eagles once again returned to the Super Bowl, but seemed to die off this year with…whatever color this logo was.
But with the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots matching up this past weekend in Super Bowl LX, another conspiracy theory surfaced when fans noticed something interesting about the official graphic released by the NFL before the season began:
Now, the NFL (obviously) denied that the graphic was anything but a coincidence. But apparently fans are now looking for hints for next season to predict which teams will face off in Super Bowl LXI.
Following the Super Bowl this past weekend, the NFL unveiled the logo for next season’s game in Los Angeles:
Who could that possibly be? Well one popular theory spreading on social media is that the water hints at the Miami Dolphins – the only team in the league whose mascot is a fish, and whose team colors are also light blue like the waves:
But who’s the other team? If the Dolphins are the AFC representative, that means orange could be the Chicago Bears or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (if they go with their alternate uniforms).
But others are looking at another source for clues – one that also happens to point to the Dolphins, and may give us some insight into their opponent.
DraftKings (an official partner of the NFL) posted a graphic for next year, similar to the one released by the NFL, featuring players from all 32 teams. And who’s closest to the Super Bowl? Well it appears to be Dolphins receiver Jaylen Waddle and New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara.
Now, it could also be 49ers linebacker Nick Bosa, but I’m a Saints fan so I’m going with the theory that Who Dat Nation will be headed back to the Super Bowl with Tyler Shough at quarterback.
Of course both teams struggled this year, so it might be a bit of a stretch to predict the Dolphins and the Saints in the Super Bowl, but both the Seahawks and the Patriots missed the playoffs last year and made the big game this year too…
Or, maybe it’s not scripted and we have no idea who will be in the Super Bowl. But where’s the fun in that?
