Nothing like a little Christmas prank.
Every little kid’s greatest fear on Christmas is that they are on the naughty list. I feel like it’s a universal experience that we all had it burned into our brains that we needed to be on the nice list, and once the secret of Santa was revealed to us, it was all a ploy our parents used to make sure we behaved.
Needless to say, all of us got our acts together because the idea of being gifted coal by Santa was terrifying. However, for this one young boy, his fear of receiving coal for Christmas came true.
Two years ago, a little boy named Jude, who has gone viral many times on TikTok for his funny commentary with a thick southern drawl, was worried he ended up on the naughty list when he opened up an unexpected gift on Christmas. Jude’s parents recently revived the viral moment online, bringing the footage of the Missouri boy back to thousands of views. On Christmas Day, Jude opened up a bag of coal, but was convinced it was not for him.
“Charcoal for you, daddy!”
Jude hilariously exclaims as he hands the bag of Kingsford charcoal to his father. The father takes the bag of coal and tells Jude that the coal is for him, reading that the present was addressed to Jude from Santa.
“No, that’s charcoal for you…”
Jude begins to realize that the coal might mean that he’s on the naughty list. While you can see the disappointment starting to fill his face, he still has such a kind heart and tells his father that although the coal might be his, he’s willing to share it because it can be used for his father’s grill.
“But I can put it in your grill, because it’s for me.”
Before Jude’s Christmas is ruined, his mother interjects that there is another gift under the tree that has Jude’s name on it. At first, Jude does not feel confident that the gift is for him, but reluctantly listens to his mother and opens the wrapped present. Much to his surprise, the gift made complete sense as to why he was gifted coal…and it’s not because he was on the naughty list.
“Just like I wanted!”
He excitedly says as he opens up a little Weber grill. Jude bends down and hugs the grill before yelling that he’s going to cook meat on his new toy. Talk about a dad in the making.
So for any kiddos this year worried that getting charcoal means they are on the naughty list… Don’t give up hope. There could be a grill hidden under your Christmas tree.
