Clay Street Unit had a big announcement this past weekend.
In tandem with the release of their brand new single “Rollin’,” the six piece Denver, CO-based outfit announced on Friday that their debut record is on the way. Slated for release on February 13, this is huge news for all of the Clay Street Unit fans that have been waiting patiently for a full-length album ever since their 4-track A Mighty Fine Evening EP hit streaming platforms back in 2022.
Aside from that EP, the band’s only other release coming into 2025 was a killer cover of The Last Revel’s “Engine Trouble.” Nevertheless, they have managed to amass a dedicated and a rapidly expanding fanbase over the past few years, despite the lack of music output, on the mere strength of these releases and the incredible live show that has left fans across the country buzzing.
In March of this year, though, they released a well-received new single titled “Let’s Get Stoned,” which was quickly followed up by “Where Have You Gone?” in April, making it fairly clear that a new project could be on the way. In September, Clay Street Unit announced that they had signed with Nashville-based record label Leo33 – whose roster includes Zach Top – and hinted that a debut record was in the works without providing much detail.
Now, after releasing two more singles over the past month, Clay Street Unit has announced that their debut project Sin & Squalor – the title is derived from a lyric in the lead single “Let’s Get Stoned” – will feature 11 brand new tracks produced by Chris Pandolfi of The Infamous Stringdusters and is set for release on February 13. The album is coming to fruition at the perfect time, too, as Clay Street Unit continues to garner attention on social media and gain notoriety for their spectacular live shows. A perfect storm, perhaps, this has the potential to result in a major breakthrough for the band. Especially if the singles that have been released thus far are any indication for the sheer strength of the music.
The most recent of which, “Rollin’,” hit streaming platforms on Friday just before the album announcement, and it might just be one of their best singles to date. A full blown bluegrass tune penned solo by frontman Sam Walker, “Rollin'” is written from the perspective of a struggling farmer and it uses clever lyricism to capture his melancholic disposition. Ultimately finding hope in the fact that the grass still grows once the snow is gone and winter transitions to spring.

Man, this project can’t come soon enough. Clay Street Unit appears to be taking a well-earned reprieve from the road in the meantime, but they plan to pick back up touring again around the time of the album release, and there will be plenty of opportunities to catch them live this Spring.
In addition to Walker, the band is comprised of mandolinist and songwriter Scottie Bolin, Brad Larrison on pedal steel and dobro, Jack Kline picking banjo, Jack Kotarba on bass, and Brendan Lamb holding it down on the drums. Together they put on a must-see live show, and with the forthcoming release of Sin & Squalor, 2026 is bound to be their biggest year to date.
I highly recommend you go ahead and snag tickets to their spring tour if the band is coming to a city near you, because the venues are only going to get bigger from here on out. Check out their tour dates announced thus far for the remainder of the year and beginning of 2026 below.
