A power couple.

Landman’s second act is set to release this Sunday, on November 16th, almost exactly a year after the show’s first season (it aired on November 17th, 2024). The star-studded cast of Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, Andy Garcia, Sam Elliott, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, and Michelle Randolph will return for Season two of the beloved show, and I’m sure it will be just as wild as the first season… Taylor Sheridan knows drama, that’s for sure.

The second season’s official synopsis implies that a boiling point will be reached one way or another as Thornton’s crisis executive and “fixer” Tommy Norris will certainly be forced to put out some fires:

“As oil rises from the earth, so do secrets – and Tommy Norris’s (Thornton) breaking point may be closer than he realizes. Facing mounting pressure from M-Tex Oil, Cami Miller (Moore), and the shadow of his kin, survival in West Texas isn’t noble – it’s brutal. And sooner or later something’s got to break.”

Of course, Thornton, who plays Tommy Norris, is an absolute star and makes the show what it is, but his on-screen wife/ex-wife, I guess, Ali Larter, who plays Angela Norris, is easily one of the best characters too, in my humble opinion.

They have such an incredible chemistry, and believe it or not… their relationship is pretty similar off-screen to what you see on the TV show.

During a recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Thornton says he knew immediately why Larter was cast as his on-screen wife when he met her, and he explained that what you see in terms of their character dynamics translates to real life. He explained that their “relationship in real life is so similar to the one in the show,” adding that Larter makes him go to fancy restaurants and thinks of that nature, because he’d rather just go to a dive bar and have a beer… but she has to remind him that he’s “number one on the call sheet”:

“Okay, I get it. Now I know why you cast this girl. Our relationship in real life, and I love Ali, she’s awesome. I mean, I couldn’t do this without her. Couldn’t do it without anybody in this.

Our relationship in real life is so similar to the one in the show. I mean, she is the one who wants to go to the best restaurant, get the fanciest thing, she’s dressed up, looks like a million bucks all the time. I’m the one who looks like this, and I want to go to Fins out in Weatherford and have a beer.

And she’s like, ‘Babe, listen. You’re number one on the call sheet. I am not letting you go in that dump again.’ Or whatever, you know. Wherever I’ve suggested. And so she leads me around by the ear in real life too. And I love every minute of it.”

I can only imagine the conversations they must have when they go out to dinner together…

Of course, Larter has plenty of “spicy” scenes in the show, and while some complained that Sheridan had over-sexualized the character, though Larter recently defended him, saying she thinks it’s completely “authentic” to who Angela is:

Taylor is a provocateur. He loves to write characters that make people respond, that initiate a reaction, a feeling. And I think that what’s incredible about our show, and a lot of the shows that Taylor makes, is that they’re all wildly original and authentic to themselves.”

I think the relationship between Tommy and Angela would be completely different if she wasn’t so vivacious and lively, and it certainly keeps the show interesting… just like in their real life relationship as friends:
