Boo! It’s the neighborhood divorced dad clown at karaoke night.
Pennywise the Dancing Clown is emerging from the sewer systems beneath the town of Derry, Maine, and is coming to haunt… your local karaoke night at the dive bar? It’s officially Halloween week, which means the costumes are coming out. I am sure many folks will be celebrating the spooky holiday if they haven’t begun already, leading up to Halloween this Friday.
I’ve already seen some great country music-related costumes online, which is getting me amped up to see what the famous faces of country music dress up as. A frontrunner for me personally this year is this stellar Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers “Island In The Stream” inspired costume:

While the country music costumes will always hit a soft spot for me (Hello, it’s my job), something about a classic Halloween horror costume always hits. While I am personally not a fan of scary or horror films, I do appreciate it when someone pulls off a classic — such as Pennywise the Dancing Clown from It.
One Halloween moment from the weekend that is going viral features a man dressed as Pennywise. The scary costume is frightfully accurate, and he’s not just scaring the bar’s patrons, but he’s delivering a hauntingly good karaoke performance. Pennywise is channeling his inner divorced dad as he gives a performance of Staind’s “It’s Been A While.” Of course, Staind frontman Aaron Lewis has since entered in the country music space.
While the clip shows only a small portion of the performance, the man behind the clown paint does a stellar job delivering these lyrics. I bet if he weren’t dressed up, this performance would still turn quite a few heads.
As if this video couldn’t be any more hilarious, a user clocked that it happened at an American Legion, and the creator confirmed it. Talk about something the European mind cannot comprehend. In less than 24 hours since posting, the clip already racked up 2.3 million views and almost 500k likes. The fans love divorced dad Pennywise, what can you say?
I wish we had a longer bit of the performance because the voice behind the clown costume isn’t bad, and he’s lowkey crushing this karaoke version of “It’s Been A While.” Check it out:

The comments section did not disappoint. Read a few of my favorites while you’re here:
“Nah, that’s most def Aaron Lewis dressed up as Pennywise.”
“This is tough.”
“This is peak American culture.”
“The divorce is going well.”
“All you can do is say hell yeah and keep drinking.”
“IT’s been a while, yeah, about 27 years, mate.”
“Why is he eating, though?”
“Did he dedicate it to Georgie before he started?”
“I desperately need to see the full recording.”
“Bro went from IT to feeling IT.”
“He’s got that ‘it’ factor.”
“What kind of divorce is IT going through?”
“Why is it actually good?”
“Honestly. I get it. Nothing needs to be explained.”
“It’s been a while, 27 years to be exact.”
“Who hurt Penny?”
If you’re dressing up as Pennywise this Halloween, I expect you also to lay down a divorced dad rock song at karaoke… this is peak male performance.
