Staring right into the photographer’s soul.
If you’ve never seen a bighorn sheep serve an incredibly judgmental look, today is your lucky day. A wildlife photographer out in Colorado came across a trio of rams in the middle of a kerfuffle, and just the presence of the human near them was enough to send one ram over the edge.
There’s not another animal that lives up to its name more than the ram. These animals never shy away from clashing their big horns together, which as you might imagine, is a very common occurrence. We’ve seen videos where two rams running full speed and clanking horns almost creates a gunshot-like sound, which can be shocking to hear.
The only thing that’s more shocking is how the cranium clashes barely phase these animals.
Rams mainly use their head and horns to protect themselves, and because these big horned creatures use them so often, they’ve actually adapted to be able to withstand such hits to their noggin. The animals are able to avoid concussions thanks to their increased skull thickness, the tighter fit of the brain cavity (which reduces brain shaking), and the fact that their brain is immobilized by fat that is built into their skulls.
Rams also impressively have control over their brain’s blood flow. All that means is that these creatures can prepare to take a hit by sending additional blood to their brains, which in turn inflates the blood vessels and creates a “bubble wrap” like effect. In other words, there’s a lot more than meets the eye when rams lower their heads and weaponize their horns.
But the thing that was really weaponized in this video below was one ram’s look of pure and absolute disappointment. This is the kind of look that your mother would give you when you were supposed to take the chicken out of the freezer and forgot to. It’s the kind of glare that a restaurant employee gives a customer when they walk in five minutes before close.
Simply put, it’s the vibe that a ram gives off when a photographer throws off whatever it was they were up to.
The person capturing footage for “Colorado Adventures” was attempting to catch three rams battling it out. Instead, they got something 10-times better. They very well might have caught the moodiest, pettiest, most-over-it bighorn sheep the world has ever seen. Safe to say that the photographer ruined the ram rumble, and one of the animals wasn’t afraid to let them know about it.

You still got the two rams doing what they do best (ramming), but in addition, you had the third sheep completely fed up and doing a “Jim Halpert from The Office” right into the camera lens. And the photographer’s caption said that the ram “cracked them up,” so at least they didn’t take the soul-staring personal.
It’s quite the fun video to take in, and social media users that came across the clip did their best to guess what the one ram was thinking with that look:
