The highly-anticipated second collaboration is here.
Zach Bryan has teamed up with Kings of Leon once again, but this time, Kings of Leon is the lead artist, and Zach Bryan is the featured artist. How the tables have turned… but not in a bad way, again creating magic in the studio.
The other week, Zach Bryan released his highly anticipated single with Kings of Leon, “Bowery.”
Leading up to the single’s release, ZB teased a few clips of it on social media, and fans instantly recognized the signature KOL sound. Bryan called working with Kings of Leon “one of the greatest honors of his life,” as he’s always admired the work of the family band from Nashville, Tennessee.
The song details meeting a woman at the New York City venue, The Bowery, leading to a very memorable night filled with desire. Sonically, the sound blends the sounds of both artists well, highlighting the folk elements of Zach Bryan’s country-centered sound alongside the iconic KOL guitar licks.
“Bowery” will appear on Zach Bryan’s forthcoming record, With Heaven On Top. It was initially intended to be an EP that would precede Zach’s final studio album with Warner, but since he reupped his contract for another two records with them, the exact process is unclear. Either way, fans will have to wait a while for With Heaven On Top, which is scheduled for release on January 9, 2026.
But in the meantime, Zach Bryan and Kings of Leon have teamed up once again for a new single, “We’re Onto Something.” Ahead of the single’s announcement, Kings of Leon took to their social media to share a demo they are working on, and no other in the background vocal is that of Zach Lane Bryan.
When the song dropped, Caleb Followill shared that he felt like “We’re Onto Something” was a very natural collaboration that did not have much overthinking when it came to it coming together. He shared that he feels like it has a “good vibe.”
“Trying to be less meticulous about every little decision that we make. And just kind of be loose with things because that’s how it feels the best for us in our world when we’re making music.
A lot of times the demos end up being our favorite things because we’re all just finding our place… It just feels kind of loose, and I think it’s a good vibe.”
The song’s tempo makes it easy for fans to fall into a groove with the hit, as Followill opens the tune, delivering the first verse. Sonically, this feels a lot like a classic KOL tune from the 2000s rockers, but with a little western flair. They included a stellar harmonica lick that appears throughout the entirety of the tune. When Zach Bryan enters during the chorus, he matches the vibey vocal delivery of Followill, with distinct words dropping on each beat.
“Be one thе day that I was born, I was fully formed, I was on a mansion
But that name’s too hard to mention
It’d be nice if I could get a slice, have it outside, take a big ol’ bite
Paradise, it seems alright…”
To accompany the single’s release, the group also dropped a music video that showcases behind-the-scenes bits from their time on tour with ZB, including scenes from Red Rocks and their most recent performance in San Francisco, where they debuted the tune on stage. There is also some scenes from their hang at Ray’s Bay, a Lower Manhattan dive that Zach likes to frequent.
Out of the two collaborations between Zach Bryan and Kings of Leon, “We’re Onto Something” shines slightly brighter in my book.
Check it out.
