Got a little out of control.
Morgan Wallen was in Arizona this weekend for two nights at State Farm Stadium in Glendale on his massive I’m The Problem tour. But it sounds like the weekend got off to a rocky start…
During his show on Saturday, Morgan threw some shade at the night one crowd:
“I didn’t know if I was ever gonna come back to Arizona after that crowd last night. But I think tonight you guys might change my mind.”
@xoxo__jordynn who upset my man last night? #imtheproblemtour #morganwallen #glendaleaz #cowgirl #statefarmstadium ♬ original sound – xoxo__jordynn
That was all he said about it, and there weren’t any viral videos that showed any major incidents or anything that would have prompted a reaction like that. So the comments obviously left everybody wondering what happened during the first night that would have left such a bad taste in Morgan’s mouth.
Well after the comments, fans who were at the first show took to social media to shed some light on what may have rubbed him the wrong way.
In one video, you can see Morgan appear to get frustrated while performing “TN” as he kicks something to the side that apparently had been thrown onstage:
@mom2kam_ella Looking through the videos I recorded from the #morganwallen concert in #arizona and noticing him getting PO during TN. Night 1 why’d you have to ruin it and make AZ look bad? #concert #imtheproblem #dobetter
And another video posted by a concertgoer claims that apparently there was an ongoing issue throughout the night with fans throwing things on stage:
“Y’all were literally throwing so much stuff on stage, crew members from backstage were coming out to grab stuff off the stage.”
@justdrawn.thatway Also I DON’T blame Morgan, yes I’m bummed but the blame falls on the crowd tonight!!! #morganwallen #arizona
Yet another video shows a fan grabbing Morgan as he made his way through the crowd to go to a stage at the back of the stadium, prompting an angry reaction from the country music superstar:
@kam27455 For all those wondering, why Morgan Wallen was mad about night 1, and why he probably didn’t walk through the floor night 2. All it took was one person to ruin it for the rest. @morganwallen what a great show, both night were phenomenal! Lovin what your doing, keep up the great work, can’t wait to see you next time! Definitely the #1 country artist in my book. #morganwallen #imtheproblem #morganwallenmad #morganwallenarizona #morganwallenconcert #statefarmstadium #arizona #concert #country
And in another video, you can see an altercation apparently breaking out in the crowd right in front of Morgan, with security gathering around a group of fans:
@ken.rileyy Why can’t people just be respectful?! Like really?! Throwing stuff and flipping someone off right in front of Morgan. Not cool. #morganwallen #glendale #arizona
Here’s another angle of the same incident:
@kvan324 7-.18.25 ❤️. #morganwallen #imtheproblem #az #Datenight #fyp #imalittlecrazy #ilovethisman #fight @morganwallen
Seems like it wasn’t just one specific incident that set Morgan off, but a bunch of bad behavior from fans in the crowd that didn’t have him excited to get back to Arizona any time soon.
It sounds like the crowd was better behaved on night two (at least I haven’t seen or heard of any incidents yet), so maybe they were able to change his mind after all.
But obviously the whole situation raises a bigger issue of fan behavior during concerts. Too many times over the past couple of years we’ve seen videos of things being thrown at artists on stage, and even artists getting injured after getting hit by projectiles thrown by fans from the crowd.
It’s really no surprise that artists are getting annoyed by it, especially an artist who’s as accessible to fans during his shows as Morgan. He generally stays long after the shows to sign autographs, and walks through the crowd as he makes his way to the back platform, but if fans can’t behave you’ve gotta think he’ll have second thoughts on interacting with fans.
