Golf Legend John Daly Is Opening Up His Own Nashville Bar

Move over artist-owned bars in Nashville… it’s time for some golfer-owned bars.

Anyone that’s been to Nashville in recent years knows that the restaurant and bar scene has been overwhelmingly taken over by corporate establishments disguised as eateries and watering holes owned by country artists. Speaking on behalf of Whiskey Riff, the only two that are really worth a damn are Erich Church’s Chief’s and Alan Jackson’s AJ’s Good Time Bar.

The rest? Well, if you like overpriced drinks and EDM music, you’ll feel right at home.

The artist-owned bar has become somewhat of an epidemic in the Downtown Nashville area. That’s why it’s a bit refreshing to see a non-country-artist throwing their hat into the ring: John Daly. That’s right, the loud-mouthed, long-driving, peak-male-specimen known as John Daly is opening up his own bar in Nashville.

It appears to be called John Daly’s Nashville, and it’s located in the Midtown area of Music City. According to this post, the golf legend’s bar will be neighbors with the popular Losers Bar & Grill:

How about that?

There’s not much information about it online, but it appears to be opening this summer. Judging by this sweepstakes post below, our best guess is that John Daly’s Nashville will open on the same day that Happy Gilmore 2 is released on Netflix – July 25. Daly’s Good Boy Vodka is apparently running a giveaway to allow for two lucky fans to attend both the bar’s grand opening and the premiere of the movie that Daly is set to star in:

“We’re flying one lucky winner and a friend to Nashville for the Grand Opening of John Daly’s new bar. You will get a) 2 exclusive tickets b) Front row seats to Daly’s big-screen debut and c) One unforgettable night. Ready to party with a legend?”

Sounds like a pretty good time to me.

And that above post seems to be the only announcement associated with the opening of John Daly’s Nashville. So either they accidentally let the cat out of the bag with the sweepstakes, or they planned on capitalizing on this grand opening and Happy Gilmore 2 premiere synergy.

While the Nashville bar news is certainly exciting, I’m really looking forward to the Happy Gilmore sequel. When Daly was asked about his character that’s an exaggeration of himself, the long-ball hitter stated that fans should expect to be wildly entertained by the sequel, and revealed what he could:

“Bud Martin from Wasserman (Media) approached me about doing ‘Happy Gilmore 2.’ I said, ‘For Adam? Yeah I’ll do it. I’ll do a couple of things for him.’ But I’m doing a lot more. I guess I’m going to be living in a garage. That’s about all I can say. It’s going to be funny. I’m telling you right not. Get ready to cry laugh.”

I simply can’t wait to see John Daly living out of a garage.

And I’m also excited to see so many characters from the original film reprise their roles. Obviously Sandler is back to play Happy, but Christopher McDonald is also coming back to play Shooter McGavin, and Ben Stiller is also returning to play the small-but-mighty role of Hal L. – the stickler who worked at a retirement community in the 1996 hit.

All that to say that John Daly seemingly has a busy summer ahead of him. A Nashville bar grand opening? And a premiere for one of the most highly anticipated comedy sequels of all time? Go ahead and call it the “Summer of Daly.”
