The Items Left Behind In The Infield At Talladega Superspeedway This Year Were Surprisingly Tame

@TALLADEGA

Okay, by Talladega standards, this is pretty tame…

This past weekend, the NASCAR Cup Series headed to Talladega Superspeedway for the Jack Link’s 500, where  Austin Cindric won the race, holding off Ryan Preece on the final lap for his third Cup Series win.

Of course, the classic race is known for its rowdy infield parties, competitive races and total Earnhardt domination for many years, and this year was no exception in terms of the action, notably between Cindric’s and his teammate, Joey Logano. While it looked like another great, year, I always look forward to the week after, when Talladega’s social media team share some of the wild items left behind, as that has become a fun, yearly tradition that fans online really love.

Tons of people camp out, stay up all night, and party… it is ‘Dega, after all. I’ve never gotten to experience in myself, but I’m hopeful I’ll make it there one day for a race because it looks like so much fun. This year, the items left behind were relatively (that’s the key word here) tame. Per usual, there were tons of coolers, beer cans, and even mattresses left behind.

I honestly wonder “how” and “why” when I see most of the items, but at the same time, it’s Talladega, so anything pretty much goes. And I’m sure there’s probably a lot more where all of this came from that wasn’t exactly family friendly for Twitter…

But my hunch that these items seem much more tame than normal seemed pretty accurate, as they also thanked fans for picking up their trash and noted how hard it was to find much like that left behind. In fact, they didn’t even have any TV’s left behind, and they typically always have a few of those left after several days of partying…

“Also, want to preface – the trash was VERY hard to find this year (no TVs!!!) and they were all placed next to garbage cans to be picked up. We appreciate you all making it difficult for me to find items and always cleaning up after yourselves every year!”

But it’s still so interesting to see what remains at Talladega after a weekend of drinking, having fun and racing, so without further ado, check out the photos from this past weekend:
