The narrative is shifting.
Over the weekend, Bill Belichick went viral again for a moment involving his significantly younger girlfriend, Jord0n Hudson. While this is not the first time that Belichick and Hudson have made headlines, this moment gave a glimpse into their relationship that was very telling.
During an interview with CBS Sunday Mornings, Jordon sat off to the side, watching intently as Bill was questioned about a wide array of topics. And when interviewer Tony Dokoupil asked how the couple met, which has already been widely covered online, Hudson quickly chimed in from off camera to shut it down:
“We’re not talking about this.”
Given the 48-year age difference between the 73-year-old coach and the 24-year-old former cheerleader, who reportedly met after striking up a conversation on a flight and kept in touch over the years, the most obvious and likely narrative was that she’s a gold digger, willing to be with an old man for the money and status that come along with it. Bill wants some lovin’ from a pretty young girl and that’s the exchange here… I’m rich, successful and powerful, you’re young and fun and hot…each person is getting something out of this, but I call the shots. Some would even call it predatory for such an older man like Bill, who is a known hard ass, to be romancing such a young woman.
But it’s clear that’s not the case at all. Before this interview, Belichick asked if Hudson could be cc’d on all emails to him so she could help the team out with social media, and Hudson expressed her concerns about comments about their relationship on the team’s social media posts.
“Is there anyone monitoring the UNC Football page for slanderous commentary and subsequently deleting it/blocking users that are harassing BB in the comments?”
The next day, Belichick added:
“I cannot believe that UNC would support my being called a ‘predator.’”
But after her quickly shutting down specific topics of conversation during this CBS interview, it’s clear who runs the show in this relationship, and Belichick is no predator… if anything, it now almost seems like Hudson is the mastermind at work and Bill is just along for the ride. After the CBS interview went viral, a daily pop culture podcast called The Toast shared some commentary on the moment, which also went viral. The sister co-hosts, Claudia and Jackie Oshry, opened the segment talking about the viral moment, noting that Belichick A) looks horrid in the interview wearing a shirt with a hole in it (which was much more causal than I would have dressed for an interview), and B) is being clearly bossed around by Hudson.
“Up until this interview, like I just thought Bill Belichick’s getting his d*ck wet, and like you would do it too if you could. Then I saw the hole in his shirt, and now I’m worried.”
Jackie Oshry says. Her sister, Claudia, who is outspoken and hilarious, then goes on a rant about the moment, saying that it appears that Hudson is grooming Belichick.
“Yes, the feelings and the thoughts that I might have had on these two is completely different now. One due to the hole, obviously. My biggest takeaway was like, you know, you see someone who’s 50 years older, who is wealthy and famous, and you realize it’s gross, but it’s also a f**ked up relationship. The power imbalance of it all.
Meanwhile, we got a glimpse into their relationship, she’s running things, he’s never looked worse. She is so scary. She is not being groomed by anyone. She’s grooming him! It’s elder abuse.
She has balls of steel. The way she just chimed in, like who the f**k does she think she is sitting in on the CBS interview, period. Let alone being like ‘not saying that.’ She didn’t mince words.
We might have all been worried at one point about this young girl. After what I’ve seen, I am worried about this old man. She’s like a Ford. Built tough. Everything I was seeing of her, I was like, ‘Oh my god. Who the f**k is this girl?'”
The ‘Ford, Built Tough’ comment took me out.
While their commentary is top-notch takes, it also falls in line with a new report from the New York Post, which had a CBS source tell them that Hudson is a “runaway train” and their relationship is “alarming.” The source also said that Hudson has inserted herself into every possible aspect of Belichick’s life.
“She saw an opening and she took it.”
Longtime and highly respected journalist, Megyn Kelly even acknowledged a similar dynamic in the relationship, saying:
“If the situation was reversed, and we had a 74 year old female, and a 24 year old male in the background… we’d be accusing him of elder abuse and asking whether he was guilty of coercive controls and whether this woman was ok, and honestly, I have all those same questions here… she’s got major Dr. Jill (Biden) vibes.”
To be fair, Bill has never been one for fashion, and was often seen on the sidelines of games wearing just an old hoodie. Compared to other coaches in the NFL, he’s always looked pretty sloppy… it was part of his aura. But now, he’s seemingly lost all of that aura. We’re talking about arguably the best NFL coach of all time, a hard-nosed, disciplinarian, who set the gold standard in the NFL for years. People still refer to it as the “Patriot Way,” which in short is simply preparation and execution with every detail to the highest standard. The most no-nonsense coach in the league, he barely answer media questions. All business, all the time. Bill Belichick could walk into an NFL locker room, full of testosterone, different egos, personalities like Randy Moss and Tom Brady… and he COMMANDED that room. He demanded the best, and he got it… and he got 6 Super Bowls to show for it.
So I just don’t see how he went from alpha lion to neutered house cat overnight… I mean, let’s be honest, the sex can’t be that good, right? Jordon is certainly a beautiful woman but if Bill just wanted some arm candy, he could find it anywhere. It simply doesn’t make any sense…
TMZ also reported that Hudson allegedly stormed off the set during the interview, and “expected Bill to follow her.” The whole thing caused a 30-minute delay, and she apparently interrupted the interview several other times throughout the process, including correcting her boyfriend on some of his answers to football-related questions. It’s also been reported that, due to the awkward initial interview and the delays caused by Hudson, CBS canceled a second interview Belichick had with the network.
She really does have balls of steel. It’s clear who wears the pants in this relationship, but at this rate, she’s doing more damage than good for his career and public image. It appears that UNC fans should prepare to see her on the sidelines of this next football season, the way things are progressing…
