Tyler Childers concerts need to come with a ‘too much information’ warning.
I could have gone my whole life without this knowledge, but add this to the list of Tyler Childers’ monologues that make you laugh. The other week, Childers announced that he was canceling some shows due to illness. Given the short notice, Childers, like most artists whose shows are canceled at the last minute, felt awful and quickly rescheduled the show.
One of the shows the Childers had to reschedule was Raleigh, North Carolina, at the Coast Credit Union Music Park. During the show, Childers took a second to thank fans for being understanding about his illness and decided to give fans the honest to God truth on why he didn’t take the stage that night.
“So some of you may not know this, because why would you? I wouldn’t have known it unless someone hadn’t shared this with me.
There’s a fecal chart.”
Oh boy… buckle up because it just gets better.
“And it goes from one to seven. And one is like really good ice. And seven is like the water that you put over it. And I was at about eight. That would’ve been… that would’ve been a show, but it wouldn’t have been the one I wanted to perform for y’all.”
Ah, the old liquid sh*ts, the runs, diarrhea… whatever you want to call it- nothing worse than that.

I didn’t know what a fecal chart was until Childers mentioned it in this clip, so naturally, curiosity took over, and I headed to Google. Not only is it a thing, but Childers’ description of what one and seven look like on said chart is spot on. If he says he was at an eight, I don’t blame the old boy for canceling the show. It would have been a miracle for him to get some time away from the porcelain throne.
Fans were understanding before this description, but afterward, I don’t think anyone in the crowd blamed Childers for rescheduling the show.
After giving that graphic description of what he was going through, he told the North Carolina crowd that they were going to perform “Jersey Giant” and had planned on playing it there before sickness struck. While I am sure some would have loved to hear it before his home show at Lexington’s Kroger Field, the fact that “Jersey Giant” is back on the setlist is far more important.
