Good place for an autograph.
President Donald Trump met with a group of wounded veterans at the White House yesterday, inviting them to join him in the Oval Office while he signed some new executive orders related to education. And during the ceremony, he invited Sarah Verardo, the wife of one of those wounded warriors, to speak on behalf of the veterans.
Sarah spoke about how her husband Michael had been wounded in Afghanistan, and how President Trump had visited him in the hospital while he was undergoing surgery at Walter Reed Medical Center. And she also pointed out the struggles that many of the veteran faced while dealing with the VA under the previous administration, like a man named Alex who has a prosthetic leg due to his injuries but was forced by the VA to prove that he still had his injuries when he needed a wheelchair.
Pretty shameful, because I’m no doctor but even I know that his leg didn’t somehow grow back.
But while Sarah was speaking, it was Alex’s prosthetic leg that caught the president’s eye. Trump asked the veteran whose picture was on the leg, and Alex laughed as he informed the president that it was a picture of his predecessor Joe Biden and said “Let’s Go Brandon.”
Of course “Let’s go Brandon” became a popular phrase that meant “F**k Joe Biden” after a reporter misheard the crowd’s chants following a NASCAR race at Talladega back in 2021. And Trump got a kick out of prosthesis – although Sarah said she had told the veteran that he wasn’t allowed to ask the president to sign it.
After speaking with the veterans, Trump passed out challenge coins and signed some “Make America Great Again” hats. And luckily for Alex, there were some folks in the room who were determined to get Trump to sign his leg.
Tim Kennedy, a retired veteran and UFC fighter, took the leg from the veteran and laid it on Trump’s desk – and the president was happy to sign it, right over Joe Biden’s mouth:
“You want me to sign it? Put it right over here.
I can’t stand this guy. You know why? Because he did a rotten job. He should have never been president. And with this pen it will never, ever come off. Put it right over his mouth, which he didn’t use very well.”
Now, I’ve seen country artists sign prosthetic legs at concerts before. Over the summer I was at a festival and there was a guy who was holding up his prosthetic trying to get every artist to sign it. Lainey Wilson even danced around with it before putting her autograph on there.

But I can’t recall ever seeing a president sign one – especially not one laying on the desk in the Oval Office. But Trump seemed to get a big kick out of it, and he was able to do two of his favorite things at once: Honoring our veterans and talking shit about Joe Biden.
