Clay Street Unit Continues To Prove They Are A Band You Need To Know With “Where Have You Gone?”

Clay Street Unit is hitting their stride right now.

The six piece country music outfit from Denver, CO has now spent several years diligently honing their craft and building their fanbase, and over time the shows have started to get bigger and their music has continued to reach more ears. With a small but potent catalog of music that featured only five songs (one of which is a cover) until just last month, Clay Street Unit had given fans a glimpse of their musical prowess but built their following largely on the strength of their live show.

Steadily growing their brand to become one of the largest local acts on the Denver, CO scene, things have really started to pick up rapidly for Clay Street Unit thus far in 2025. Currently on a co-headlining run up the East Coast with their jamgrass counterparts Shadowgrass, the band continues to earn themselves plenty of high profile festival slots, and they’ll be able to check Red Rocks off the bucket list in May when they open for Kitchen Dwellers and Leftover Salmon.

Having signed a record deal with Monument Records back in January, the band released their first single of the year with “Let’s Get Stoned” in March, and in just a month, the single has already been streamed over 145,000 times on Spotify alone. And now, with the release of their second single in as many months, it’s evident that Clay Street Unit is likely in the midst of rolling out their debut project.

Whether that is indeed the case or not, one thing is for sure: They’re on an absolute roll. Co-written by frontman Sam Walker and mandolinist Scottie Bolin, the band’s latest single “Where Have You Gone?” was produced by The Infamous Stringdusters’ Chris Pandolfi and features catchy and clever lyricism backed by a fast paced, string-driven instrumental attack that is indicative of the band’s signature sound.

Give it a listen for yourself here:

And while we’re at it, here’s the aforementioned single that was released back in March, “Let’s Get Stoned.”

Clay Street Unit came up and gained traction in the Colorado jamgrass scene, and while that sound and style is still major aspect of their live show, fans have certainly started to notice that the band has established a presence within the ever popular Americana/Country scene in Nashville and beyond. As a band with sonic capabilities that transcend any one genre or scene, their venture further into the country music world is bound to be beneficial in growing their fanbase, and comes at a perfect time with more new music on the way.

In addition to frontman/guitarist Sam Walker and mandolinist/vocalist Scottie Bolin, Clay Street Unit is comprised of Jack Kline on Banjo, Jack Kotarba on bass, Brad Larrison slinging pedal steel and dobro, and Brendan Lamb keeping the boys in line on the drums. The sky is the limit for this crew, and with the momentum they’ve built over the past several years, it is clear something big is brewing here.

While we await the release of more music, and maybe even a debut album, make sure to keep an eye out on Clay Street Unit’s touring schedule.
