Oklahoma Governor Called Out For Saying There’s “No Better Place To Be” Than Kid Rock’s Concert In Oklahoma City – As The ‘Boys From Oklahoma’ Show Was Going On In Stillwater

You sure about that?

And listen, before anybody gets mad at me, I’m not talking shit about Kid Rock here. I’ve never seen him live, but I hear he puts on a hell of a show.

But Cross Canadian Ragweed is back on stage together for the first time in 15 years…

It’s Boys From Oklahoma weekend down in Stillwater, with Ragweed reuniting for their first shows together since 2010 with an incredible four-night, sold-out run at Boone Pickens Stadium. Formed in Stillwater in the mid-90s by Cody Canada, Grady Cross, Randy Ragsdale and Jeremy Plato, Ragweed became a cornerstone of the Red Dirt movement beginning in 1994, and took off with the release of their debut album, Carney, in 1998. They would go on to release 7 studio and 3 live albums before disbanding in 2010, with Cody Canada and Jeremy Plato going on to form Cody Canada and the Departed.

So as you can imagine, this is one of the biggest weekends in Red Dirt music history.

The four night run features not only Ragweed but also Turnpike Troubadours, Jason Boland and the Stragglers, Stoney LaRue, The Great Divide, and The Mike McClure Band. It was originally set to just be one show, but after 150,000 people registered for presale tickets for the first night, organizers ended up adding not one but THREE more shows – all of which sold out pretty much immediately.

We’re only two nights into the historic weekend, but so far special guests have included Dierks Bentley, Wade Bowen, and Oklahoma State football coach Mike Gundy, who introduced the boys from Oklahoma during their first show.

But the governor of Oklahoma apparently had other places to be…

The Boys From Oklahoma show wasn’t the only concert in the state last night: Kid Rock was in Oklahoma City for a stop on his arena tour, which the American Badass said was an opportunity to “celebrate with some other like-minded, commonsense, hardworking patriots who unapologetically love this country.”

And apparently one of those people was Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt.

The governor took to social media last night to share a picture with Kid Rock before the show, and said that there was “no better place to be” last night than in Oklahoma City.

I mean, like I said, no disrespect to Kid Rock, but it seems like the historic Boys From Oklahoma show was the place to be last night.

And Stitt got called out for the perceived disrespect for the show – which was ironically taking place at his alma mater:

Who knows, maybe the governor is planning on heading to Stillwater for one of the two remaining shows. But if I had to choose between one of the biggest moments in Red Dirt history, the first Ragweed shows in 15 years, or a Kid Rock concert at an arena in Oklahoma City, catch my ass in the stadium pretty much every single time.
