The Dr. can sing…
A video on TikTok is going viral of a doctor named Dr. Vinyard singing Garth Brooks’ hit “The Dance” to a patient before surgery. He lets each patient pick a song before surgery, and wow, does he have a voice… it’s really good.
Dr. Vinyard runs the Vinyard Institute Of Plastic Surgery in Port St. Lucie, Florida, but I think he might’ve missed out on a career in country music. Many professional artists can’t do this song justice, so hearing someone who you would never expect to sing like this absolutely nail it is impressive, to say the least.
Of course, “The Dance” was written by Tony Arata and recorded by Garth in 1988 as the tenth and final track from his self-titled debut album, from which it was also released as the album’s fourth and final single in April 1990. One of his signature songs, alongside “Friends In Low Places,” it’s a classic and this cover is just amazing… especially considering he’s doing it a capella in an operating room.
Garth’s music streams only on Amazon Music, so if you want to hear G sing “The Dance” and all of his hits, get a month free by clicking here.
This doctor has done other country covers for patients before surgery, but this one has gone really viral for obvious reasons. Check it out:

People in the comments were loving it, and I have a feeling business will be booming for Dr. Vinyard after this:
“As a surgical technician… I have NEVER seen this level of care from a physician.”
“I suddenly need surgery.”
“I’d love to be his nurse just to listen to him sing,”
‘He sounds great!! The singing Doctor!”
“If only more doctors gave this kind of attention, people might not be so scared of anesthesia.
“His voice is amazing.”
“Not sure I’d want to hear The Dance before surgery……but hey nice voice DOC..”
“Damn! That gave me chills. Surgeon by day, country singer by night. Bravo!!”
“Beautiful bedside manner. Bravo.”
“That is the most beautiful thing ever. That’s a person that truly cares.”
“He sings better than Garth.”
“Surgeries are scary. This doctor knows that and goes the extra mile.”
“Garth would be proud.”
“Why is he better then Garth Brooks lol”
“Voice of an angel.”
“How lucky the nurses are to hear him all the time!”
But I have to agree with the comment below, because as good as it was, not sure this would be my song choice right before going under the knife…
“Not sure I’d want to go into surgery listening to a song about goodbye…”
How about a little bit of Randy Travis’ “Three Wooden Crosses”:
@themakeovermaster POV: Your patient requests to hear you sing #threewoodencrosses by @RandyTravis✔️ before going under anesthesia 🩺🎤#themakeovermaster #fypシ゚viral ♬ original sound – Makeover Master
“Three Wooden Crosses” is another I don’t think I’d want to hear right before surgery. Sing me one about a freak bus accident that killed three people right before you put me under? I don’t think so, Doc.
And Billy Currington’s “People Are Crazy”:
@themakeovermaster Watch as Dr. Vinyard the #makeovermaster fulfills his patient’s dream by singing her favorite song, ‘People are Crazy’ by #billycurrington before her face makeover surgery 🎤🤠 She’s giddy and feeling safe and comfortable before drifting off to sleep – an experience that Dr. Vinyard believes every patient deserves ❤️ #floridaplasticsurgeon #drvinyard #vips #plasticsurgeonsoftiktok #fypシ #plasticsurgerygoals ♬ original sound – Makeover Master
