A close call.

Today, Texas country artist Wade Bowen shared photos on Instagram of a scary bus wreck he and his band had on Friday night leaving Austin, Texas to head out to some shows.

He says that a car hit their bus, and thankfully, they’re all okay and they were still able to make it to play the concert in Lubbock. Wade said that many people in Lubbock helped get them gear and instruments they needed to pull it off, and it ended up being one of his favorite shows ever in a town that means so much to him, even though I’m sure they were all shaken by what happened right before.

Wade also thanked all of the “police officers, firemen and tow truckers” who came to their rescue and made sure that everyone was okay in what was a very scary situation. He says they’re “lucky” to have made it out unscathed, and reminded everyone to “call your mom,” which is a good reminder for anytime, bus wreck aside:

“As we left Austin Friday night our bus was hit by another car. Thankfully we are all ok. I’m so blessed to have the band and crew I do. Everyone came together and figured out how to make it to our next show in Lubbock and pull off a magical night. And a huge shoutout to Lubbock, Texas for all of the people that came to our rescue with the gear and instruments we needed to make it happen.

In spite of everything, we had one of my favorite shows ever in the town that started it all for me. Thank you to all of the police officers, firemen, tow truckers, and everyone that took good care of us and our situation. We are very lucky… to be safe and also to live this life! Call your mom.”

Being a touring musician and riding on a huge tour bus is way more dangerous than I think most people realize, and country musician Hardy had a really severe bus wreck in 2022, and he still suffers from anxiety because of how bad it was. I mean, people drive crazy enough vs it is, that maneuvering one of these big things around all over the country week after week is really a hard job and the bus drivers do a great job keeping everyone safe as much as they do.

The fact that this didn’t end so much worse is a blessing for Wade and all of his band and crew, and it’s a relief to hear that no one got hurt and it wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been.
