That can’t be a good sign, right?
Ask any golfer you know… they’ll probably tell you they are superstitious. That’s why golfers wear “their lucky belt,” or keep the same pre-shot routine in hopes that the golf gods will reward them with a good shot, or better yet, a good round. So when a golfer has an interaction out on the golf course like this, I can’t imagine it’s a helpful omen.
That being said, there are plenty of examples of animals and people running into one another on the golf course. Whether it be a guy hitting golf balls at elk on the range, or even an alligator eating someone’s golf ball, it’s not uncommon for wild creatures to wander onto golf courses. After all, the 18 holes are typically laid out in their domain.
The golfer in this video below was just out on the links with some friends enjoying the wonderful day and the beautiful scenery when they noticed a fox was hanging out up by the green. Foxes are generally skittish around humans, running away before people can get even remotely close to them. Judging by this fox sticking around as the group walked up to the green, it makes me think that this one lives on or near the course and has gotten used to being around golfers.
Naturally, the golfers were intrigued by the fox, but decided to keep their distance. One of them tossed a golf ball near the fox (not at it, just as a “let’s see what happens” thing), and the wild animal was barely fazed. It had its eyes set on something in the bushes. Considering they often dine on rodents, it probably had a little treat lined up in the tall grass… and there’s a good chance the people walking up to the green soiled the hunt.
That’s at least my theory, because what happens next is rather shocking. The fox finally looks away from the overgrown area and sets its eyes on the golf ball that was thrown its direction. Without hesitating, the wild animal walked right up to it, sniffed it, squatted over the top of the ball, and took a leak on it:
“That was personal.”
It’s definitely giving “that’s what you get” vibes, is it not?
The act of going number one on the golfer’s ball set off a roar of laughter from the group, and that didn’t even scare the fox away. After it relieved itself on the small, dimpled ball, it ran by the group and then off the green… presumably to go and piss on even more golf balls. Social media users loved the viral video, and left these hilarious comments below the post:
“He came around like ‘Yeah, and what are you going to do about it?'”
“That was a power move.”
“Marked its territory.”
“Shooter McGavin would hate that.”
“I’m gonna do this the next time a group hits into us without yelling fore.”
“Talk about marking the ball.”
“Must be playing a Noodle.”
That’s a joke for golfers right there, in case you didn’t get it. I’ll be the first golfer to admit that I’ve hit a Noodle out on the course, and I’ll also be the first to admit that it’s not a bad ball…
