Morgan Wallen Turns #1 Hit “Love Somebody” Into Beautiful Piano Ballad

But this version is… so much better.

Morgan Wallen is gearing up to put out a new album sometime this year called I’m The Problem, and he’s hitting the road on a subsequent stadium tour to coincide with the record. There’s still no release date for it quite yet, but I have to imagine it will be out before the summer so fans can sing along with everything at the shows.

He’s released several songs that will be featured on the tracklist so far including the title track, “Smile” and his most recent #1, “Love Somebody,” which was written by Morgan along with John Byron, Ashley Gorley, Jacob Kasher Hindlin, Elof Loelv and Ryan Vojtesak, and focuses on how he longs for a real relationship with a girl who loves him for who he is as a person, rather than a massive country star with unending amounts of money and fame. It seems likely that Morgan pulled inspiration from his own personal life with this one, because he’s been on a rocket ship to the moon the last several years with his music, and it shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Last night, he shared a beautiful piano arrangement of the song, turning it into a ballad that really fits the song in my humble opinion… he said he has been trying to figure out what to play on tour and he likely won’t play this one on the piano like this, but he really should:

“Alright, I’m recording this myself, trying to figure out what we’re gonna play on tour. Probably not gonna play this on tour, not this version anyway, but I like how it sounds. I didn’t practice that much, but I think it sounds cool.”

Morgan joked that he won’t be “taking on any more cinematography projects” this year, because he had some issues getting the camera set up to record, but for the most part I thought it was just fine:

“Will not be taking on any more cinematography projects this year as I will be busy doing things I’m hopefully somewhat better at…”

It’s pretty rare for Morgan to share a video like this on Instagram, he generally only posts very professional videos from shows and basic announcements these days (which I get, in an effort to keep his privacy and help him stay out of trouble online, I’m assuming), but I absolutely love “Love Somebody” on piano.

Sometimes it’s easy to forget how good his voice is and his raw talent to sing, because it’s often overshadowed by all the production in his music, but this… I want more of this. Check it out:
