Former Miss North Carolina Gets Surrounded By Wolf Pack In Wild Hunting Footage

Hunting wolves

What the hell is 2011’s Miss North Carolina USA doing in the Canadian wilderness anyways?

Prepare to watch one of the wildest hunting videos you’ve ever seen. If you aren’t familiar with how hunting wolves work, it typically involves the hunter deploying a “predator calling” strategy. That means that the hunter isn’t technically doing the hunting… the wolves are.

Wolf hunters imitate distress calls of animals that wolves would normally track and kill. They set up in an open area that provides plenty of visibility, and they basically sound the dinner bell. If a hunt goes well, the wolf pack hears what they think is an animal in distress and they come running.

And it all truly seems like a terrifying way to hunt.

But for Miss North Carolina USA 2011, it’s just another day in the office. According to her bio on Drury Outdoors, Brittany Kichton first fell in love with hunting the same year she was crowned Miss NC USA. Kichton was invited to Texas for a whitetail deer hunt, and she’s evidently been hooked on hunting ever since.

Her love for hunting even led her to meet the love of her life. Brittany met her husband during a Canadian wolf hunt in 2016, and though she loved her home state of North Carolina, Kichton loved the Alberta, Canada area even more. She relocated there with her husband and has put her education (two Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and a Masters in Animal Science) to use ever since. Kichton now works to create “premium wildlife habitats” on her Alberta property.

That’s made her familiar with the lay of the land, and comfortable enough to get herself into the middle of a hectic wolf hunt (probably brings back memories of meeting her husband). In the wild video below, you’ll see Kichton impressively multitasking – sending out distress signals to the wolf pack closing in on her while also aiming and firing when wolves come into sight.

The sounds of the video alone are terrifying, but Brittany never loses her cool. She’s as calm and collected as can be as the wolves close in seemingly from every direction. One quick fire shot that she takes misses an approaching gray wolf by mere inches, and despite the close call, she doesn’t miss a beat. Kichton turns her attention to another wolf moving in on the location.

As the caption for the video explains, the whole clip is extremely intense:

Watch Miss North Carolina USA 2011 Brittany Kichton quick fire on a beautiful gray wolf! If you look closely, you can also see another one coming down the trail towards her afterwards. Definitely an INTENSE encounter in the wilds of Alberta!”

I’m glad Miss North Carolina USA 2011 is having fun on that wolf hunt… but I personally don’t want any part of a hunt like that. I tend to prefer hunting experiences that ease the tension and anxiety in my life. Having a pack of wolves close in on you seems like the most nerve-wracking outdoor encounter one could willingly put themselves through.

More power to Brittany Kichton though.
