Zach Top is not taking it.
Different types of concerts can lead to many different vibes. From shows where people sit and listen to fans dancing in the crowd or to the opposite end of the spectrum, some shows are rowdy, with fans moshing or throwing beer cans on stage. But no matter what kind of crowd you draw as an artist, you always hope that fans respect one another in the crowd and keep each other safe.
Artists often stop their set if fans get too rowdy or out of hand so that venue staff can escort them out. Conversely, they will pause their set if a medical emergency occurs, making sure the fan is okay or in a medic’s care before continuing. We have seen this often during Gavin Adcock’s shows, as he stands up for his fans who are wrongly treated by event staff and calls out fans who are too wild and could hurt someone.
But let me say I was pretty surprised to see this video of Zach Top having to pause his set because his fans were getting too crazy.
The Washington State native is in the thick of his first headlining tour, the Cold Beer & Country Music Tour, which celebrates the music of his debut record. As his fame skyrocketed before the tour’s announcement, fans sold out his shows in what felt like split seconds, and Top admitted they might have underestimated the demand for tickets.
It’s excellent for Top to have sold out nearly every show on the tour, but with a packed venue comes fans pushing on each other. And this is precisely what happened in New Mexico, leading Top to pause his show. The social media user who uploaded a video of Top calling out fans mentioned that a group in the crowd was overserved, pushing and fighting with each other, leading them to be escorted out by venue security.
Top was not thrilled to see his fans acting this way. He paused the show, sipped his drink, and told his fans to stop.
“If y’all want to start actin’ stupid, take it outside so I don’t have to stop another one of these songs.”
After this statement, Top’s fans cheered wildly, wanting to listen to his set uninterrupted. Top seemed very annoyed that he had to tell his fans to act right. I mean, it’s not like he’s Treaty Oak Revival singing “See You In Court.” The man is singing ’90s heartbreak lullabies like “I Never Lie.” Who is trying to throw hands during that masterpiece?
Kudos to Top for stopping his show to ensure everyone’s safety and that rambunctious fans were handled accordingly. However, based on his face, he does not seem to want to give this speech at any other stops on his tour.
Check it out.
