Zach Top is a hot commodity.
Earlier this year, Zach Top announced his first headlining tour, the Cold Beer & Country Music Tour, which celebrates the music from his debut album. While Top has been on tour nonstop, he was primarily a supporting act for Lainey Wilson on her Country’s Cool Again Tour and made festival appearances last year. Given his level of fame, it’s wild to think that this upcoming tour will be the Washington native’s first headlining tour.
Because of this, the “I Never Lie” singer sold out his tour FAST.
However, Top noted that after he released his debut record, Cold Beer & Country Music, he noticed an uptick in the crowd’s size.
“Kind of feels like when we put the first record out, back in April last year, felt like that was a big turning point. And all of a sudden, everything was selling out, and we couldn’t play anywhere without it being packed out.”
Fans noticed this and were ready to go to war to secure tickets for his headlining tour when it was announced. However, given the demand, fans were frustrated when they could not get tickets for the limited number of dates. Even Zach Top acknowledged how quickly tickets moved for this tour while sitting down with Dale Brisby for the Rodeo Time Podcast.
“When we announced this tour, because we are about to kick off my first official tour or whatever this spring. When we announced it, everything sold out so dang fast; I think we underestimated the demand there was for tickets. It almost kind of got some people a little angry about it; you know, it’s like we didn’t give enough people a chance to come see me.”
However, Top shared good news for the frustrated fans who left the sale queue without a ticket: He has more dates to announce for 2025.
“We are going to do another tour in the fall, where we’ll play some bigger venues and stuff. Do some small arenas and stuff like that. So, we’ll keep coming back around; folks need to worry. This ain’t a one-and-done thing; we’re going to be around for 40 years, hopefully. Cross my fingers.”
I think I speak for the collective when I say that we all hope that Zach Top is around for 40 years. Right now, he’s on the track to becoming a generational artist.
Dale Brisby then makes a great point that he feels like a big reason Top sells out shows so quickly is his nostalgic sound. Country music fans were almost craving an artist who transported them back to the genre’s roots. Top is the artist who scratches that itch, feeding into his popularity.
Top then speaks about, similar to his thoughts in his recent Billboard interview, how country music will chase a sound for some time, but ultimately, folks will always crave a more traditional sound after some time, and he was there to fill that void at the right time.
“I feel like country fans especially… may be different than other genres, still never forget kind of the roots and tradition of where the music came from. And so at some point, it’s kind of like, “Ah, let’s get back to center a little bit maybe.’
So, I feel like, yeah, I just happened to show up at the right time. It was no calculated decision to like, ‘I’m going to be the throwback guy.’ That’s just all I know how to do.”
Zach Top can keep doing what he knows how to do because we can’t get enough of it. I know that the Cold Beer & Country Music Tour will be one helluva time for those who got tickets. The good news is that more dates will be announced, which means more chances to snag tickets.
