Billy Bob Thornton likes women’s jeans, and he cannot lie.
The 69-year-old actor has been in a number of iconic projects over the years, from his independent drama Sling Blade to his outrageously inappropriate holiday classic Bad Santa (one of my personal favorites). And he’s most recently found himself as the lead of another Taylor Sheridan led TV series called Landman.
The show, which features the likes of Thornton along with Jon Hamm, Demi Moore and others, is basically Yellowstone – but with oil. Though the music that’s been included within the series has been stellar (which fans have come to expect with Sheridan projects), the show itself has already been hit with some mixed reviews. Especially after Landman included some incredibly questionable father-daughter dialogue.
At the core of things though, the idea for the series is intriguing:
“Set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas, ‘Landman’ is a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs. Based on the notable 11-part podcast “Boomtown” from Imperative Entertainment and Texas Monthly, the series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.”
The first two episodes of the new series aired on November 17, and now Billy Bob Thornton – who plays Tommy Norris in the show – is traveling around for a Landman promotional media tour. One of his stops was at The Drew Barrymore Show, and it was while he was a guest on the actress-turned-daytime-show-host that he revealed some rather personal information.
That he may or may not should have kept to himself.
Barrymore, who often cuddles up with the guests that she has on, was sitting very close to Thornton while they talked about his many marriages and his cult classic film Bad Santa. Drew seemed very relaxed for most of the interview, that is until she asked Billy Bob Thornton this question about his unique preference of jeans:
“By the way, is it true… because this was one of my favorite things that I learned about you. Umm… do you like women’s jeans?”
The questioned garnered a collective laugh from both Billy Bob and the audience, but he didn’t hesitate to get right into his answer. Should he have hesitated? Possibly, but instead, he went on a spiel justifying his preference to rock women’s jeans over men’s:
“I’m wearing them right now. The reason I don’t like to wear men’s jeans is because they’re all too baggy. And I’ve got bird legs and it just feels like I’m in a tent. I like a nice fit, and they fit great with boots. These are women’s size 6 Levi’s.”
Well… to each their own. I guess he’s never heard of slim fit?
To be frank, Billy Bob Thornton has always been an interesting character in Hollywood. This revelation shouldn’t surprise us all that much, though I’m sure there’s a certain part of the population that would take this information and then have trouble taking Landman seriously – or at the very least as serious.
If he likes wearing women’s jeans in real life, I wonder if the costume department at the new Paramount show fits Thornton’s character in the show with women’s jeans as well? Seems like he’s rocking some pretty baggy men’s Wranglers in Episode 1, but who really knows…
