This moose let these Colorado residents know that “Spooky Season” is officially over.
Nature seems to be telling us that it’s time to flip the calendar to the next season. This home in Frisco, Colorado, (awesome town if you’ve never been, by the way) was still decorated for Halloween when this video was taken. Their 9-foot Jack Skeleton was still standing tall in the front lawn, their spooky lights were still strung up, and their decorative-but-real pumpkins were still resting on the porch.
That is until a wild moose had something to say about it.
Maybe it was the snow that had already fallen onto the ground that inspired this moose to help this Colorado homeowner get rid of their Fall decor. Obviously, the easiest way the towering animal could help would be to munch and crunch on the pumpkin, so that’s exactly what it decided to do.
Once the 800-pound beast had its eyes set on the gourd, it was game over. The moose hopped the fence in front of the home and made a beeline for the front-porch-pumpkin, all while the homeowner and her pet cat watched from just inside the house. Their presence didn’t intimidate the moose at all. It was evidently hungry, and craving a pumpkin (not be confused with carving a pumpkin).
The moose started chowing down on the pumpkin like it was a pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving. Nothing was going to stop its feast – not even another moose that very well could have been its little one. If it was the offspring of the bigger moose, this mother isn’t likely going to be in the running for “Moose Mom of the Year.” You can throw the old saying of “sharing is caring” right out the window.
According to the homeowner, this moose frequently visits their home. I wonder if that means that the Frisco resident has been having to go back to the store again and again for more pumpkins. Why else would the moose want to keep visiting if there wasn’t something in it for them?
The best part of the clip below is that the moose doesn’t even leave a trace of the pumpkin. In a matter of minutes, the moose downed the gourd with ease. If there happened to be another pumpkin – or a even a couple more – it appears that the moose would have had no problem deleting them as well.

The caption on the video called it a “Sneaky Moose.” I don’t know if I’d go that far. The big ol’ behemoth stuck out like a sore thumb in the white snow, and it wasn’t exactly discrete as it snacked on the pumpkin.
But regardless, the porch pumpkin pirate has become rather popular online, as social media users have fallen in love with the moose that just wanted a Fall-themed treat:
“Aww, he was hungry!! I’m glad he found that pumpkin!”
“She meant no harm, just eating the pumpkin.”
“How polite… just tip towing her way over for a treat!”
“She didn’t leave any for her friend or child.”
“That person’s pumpkin reached its destiny.”
Hmm… that last comment suggests that every pumpkin has a destiny, and implies that most gourds are destined to be eaten by moose? Seems pretty specific to me…
