Not much is going well for the Panthers this year but they do have a bright spot, at least when it comes to media figures.
Xavier Legette is a Carolina boy through and through. Raised in Mullins, South Carolina, the 6 foot 2 wide out played college ball at South Carolina, where he played in 41 games but really shined as a fifth year senior season, where he totaled 71 catches for 1,255 yards and 7 touchdowns.
Legette was then drafted by the Carolina Panthers with the last pick of the first round, allowing him to stay in the same area he was raised, though he would have to cross the border into Charlotte, North Carolina.
While he’s showed flashes of potential greatness on the field, it’s off the field where he’s made a name for himself, and it’s because of his THICC southern accent.
Seriously, if you’ve never heard this guy speak before now is your chance. If you close your eyes you’d swear you were hearing some moonshine maker from prohibition that still lives out in the mountains and hasn’t spoken to anyone other than his cousin Ace in 15 years.
Here’s him talking about his first job, or so I think… I can’t really understand what he’s saying…
@nflonfox Could listen to this guy talk all day 😂 #nfl #nflfunny #xavierlegette #panthers ♬ original sound – NFLonFOX
And another clip of him addressing taking the “most country teammate” award… “I think I talk regular” is a bar.
Well, the Panthers are heading over to Germany to take on the New York Giants in a few weeks and Legette was asked about what his thoughts about it are, and like any true southern boy, he was worried about the food choices across the pond…
“I just hope they got some good food, I’m a picky eater. So, I hope they got something I could eat.”
A reporter than asked what his no-go’s are when it comes to food:
“I don’t eat seafood. I don’t eat like peppers and onions and all that. I don’t really eat vegetables like that… I just started eating asparagus. Uhm, I eat like string beans and green peas.”
Okay, pause here and watch the video below because the way he said “asparagus” and “string beans and green peas” is the craziest, most southern thing ever uttered by anyone on the planet…
It’s fantastic… Just fantastic…
Also, did you catch the other great pronunciation?
When asked why he doesn’t eat seafood, he said:
“I’m alluurgic”
Honestly, let’s get this guy a $100 million to just talk to the public about whatever come to his mind; me and so many other people would be absolutely dialed in.
Yall. The “aspeeuuurgus” and “allleeeuuurgic” got me rolling! May Gid bless the NFL with many years of this man! https://t.co/M7WPrWFwwD

Sure, the entire organization may be completely imploding. The owner may be entirely incompetent and their “Star” young quarterback may have been benched for a 37 year old Andy Dalton.
Yes, it’s very possible they don’t win a game for the rest of the year but I’ll tell you what, they have a media sensation in that locker room that will always bring them some positive press, even if it’s the only positive press they’re going to get.
Xavier Legette, you’ve got a big fan here and I’m pulling for you guys to find a groove.
Aspeeregus… What a legend.
He also has one of the best touchdown celebrations in the league, where he rides a horse to the sideline, and went to visit kids in the hospital while dressed as Woody, showing just how big of a heart this guy has.
WHOLESOME: Rookie receiver Xavier Legette dressed as Woody while visiting the local hospital for Halloween.
It has become a tradition for all #Panthers rookies to dress up and cheer up the sick children in the hospital.
