Count me among the many who’ve complained that Scottie Scheffler doesn’t have the most dynamic personality. Not saying that it’s for everyone to carry themselves that way, or that somebody should put on an act just to say they’re more extroverted, but Scottie is the undisputed best golfer on the planet. We just want to see a little more external fire from him is all!
I was genuinely stunned when he dropped an F-bomb after pitching the ball a fraction over the green at last week’s BMW Championship. Didn’t think the guy cursed at all. Again, that’s not a bad thing. I might be more surprised at this exchange with a reporter at Scottie’s post-Tour Championship press conference.
On an otherwise excellent Sunday when he won many millions of dollars, Scheffler seemed a little peeved that one reporter didn’t bring off the lowlight of his round with a touch more grace. So he let him have it.
Scottie is obviously joking here, but how much is hard to decipher. I dig it. Let it rip, Scheffler! How dare that man bring up such a touchy topic? This is supposed to be the celebration, coronation, culmination, whatever c-nation words you wanna use to one of the greatest seasons in golf history!
Plus, it’s not like Scottie cratered once he hit that shank and bogeyed. The blunder only helped him lock the hell in for one last brilliant stretch of golf to end the FedEx Cup in fabulous fashion.

You have to wonder how much better the season might’ve been were he not erroneously arrested by some try-hard local law enforcement person during the PGA Championship. He could’ve won the Wanamaker Trophy, and then who knows? Maybe that momentum helps him perform better than he did at The Open Championship and U.S. Open.
In just about any other year, Xander Schauffele winning The Open Championship and the PGA, making all 21 cuts and logging 15 top-10 finishes would’ve easily netted him Player of the Year honors. Scottie winning The Masters and closing the deal in the playoffs pretty much eliminates any debate on that front. It’s not quite as lopsided as Caitlin Clark’s rout of Angel Reese for WNBA Rookie of the Year, but there’s no question in my mind that Scottie deserves the hardware.
