This has consumed me in such an unhealthy way for the last 12 hours.
Whiskey Myers just headlined the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre, which is always a rocking show. Suppose you haven’t been able to experience the magic of Whiskey Myers at Red Rocks (I am also in this group).
In that case, you can feel a snippet of their electric sets through video footage that is always posted from the headlining sets at the venue nestled in the mountains.
Before they rocked out the packed venue, the East Texas Southern rock band had fun changing the pace during sound check jamming out to Tears for Fears’ “Everybody Wants To Rule The World.”
With Tony Kent taking the lead for the opening lick on the keys, the rest of the band joins in, firing up the ’80s classic. Released in 1985, the song was a #1 hit for Tears For Fears, a cut off their second studio album Songs from the Big Chair:
“Welcome to your life
There’s no turning back
Even while we sleep
We will find you
Acting on your best behavior
Turn your back on Mother Nature
Everybody wants to rule the world…”
The only thought that has consumed my mind since watching this video is that I need a studio cut of this iconic song. A little Texas twang on a Tears for Fears classic would really be good for the soul.

And you gotta hear the original:
Before this run at Red Rocks, a social media user posted a video of her playing the opening of “Broken Window Serenade” while on the plane, and since watching these two videos, this is how I will be pregaming any further Whiskey Myers show.
