Post Malone & Blake Shelton Debut New Song, “Pour Me A Drink,” At CMA Fest

Since the release of his instant hit with Morgan Wallen, “I Had Some Help,” country music fans are begging Post Malone to give them more. While Malone has been teasing what he has been cooking up in the studio across his social media platforms, he is taking his sweet time rolling each track out.

It seems he is fully living in the moment of country music swooning for him, and I don’t blame him. He has listeners in the palm of his hand.

From teasing collaborations with Luke Combs, Ernest, and most recently, Blake Shelton, it appears we might be getting more music from Post soon. Hopefully, that rings true, as last night, Malone and Shelton debuted a new song during CMA Fest. Posty took to social media last week to tease the collaboration, and last night, fans begging to hear the full version had their wish granted.

I will admit when I heard the teaser of “Somebody Pour Me A Drink,” it did resemble a classic bro-country tune, like something Shelton would’ve released in 2014, but it was still dang catchy.

“Somebody pour me a drink
Somebody bum me a smoke
I’m about to get on a buzz
I’m about to get on a roll
I’ve been breaking my back
Just keeping up with the Jones
Ya’ll know what I need
Ya’ll know how it goes.”

Last night, in the middle of a crowded Nissan Stadium, Shelton and Malone debuted the entire track for fans to hear.

“We are going to play a song that no one’s ever heard.”

Malone said to the audience as the two got situated on the stage. Before firing up the track, Shelton joked that the fans would soon know the words if they hadn’t already seen Malone’s teaser.

And while it’s not the kind of traditional country music that Post Malone said he loved during his trip to the Joe Rogan podcast, the upbeat song is the perfect anthem to blast at a poor or lake while slamming some cold ones. I’m hoping that Post still has some more old school country tricks up his sleeve, but the jury is still out on what kind of “country” album he is going to release.
