With each single release, the anticipation surrounding Joshua Quimby’s forthcoming record only builds.

Titled Back Home, the Connecticut-born and Nashville-based country music artist’s sophomore effort features 10 brand new tracks, including the previously released singles “Big Mack Truck” and “Growin’ Up,” and is set to be released in just a couple of weeks on May 31. Each single thus far has strengthened the case that Back Home could prove to be a breakthrough record for Quimby, and the latest release “The Barn” is no exception.

As the narrator mulls over the changes that have transpired in their town over the years, and does so through the context of an old dairy farm that once provided milk for the town’s residents before ultimately becoming a housing development, “The Barn” is a song that is close to Quimby’s heart but relatable people everywhere as rural land and green spaces throughout the country fall victim to development and urban sprawl. Check it out here:

“This town ain’t the same as it was back in the day
Hell its not the same town I once knew
I left it behind and returned to find
About the half the damn place was built new
About the half the damn place was built new
Well I’d sure hate to see the damn day come to be
When each dirt road is paved, where the trees are topped clean
Where each barn in this town is torn down, and becomes memories
It can’t be”

And if you haven’t heard the other two singles Quimby has released thus far in promotion of Back Home, then you’re going to want to listen to those, too.

“Growin’ Up”

Just after the release of “The Barn,” Quimby also announced the Back Home Tour, one of his biggest tours yet that will feature 25 shows in as many cities between August 25 and October 1. There’s a solid chance he’s coming to a city near you, and you’re not going to want to miss when he does, so go ahead and get those tickets to hear these new songs live.
