Randy Travis is still making a big impact.

Though the country music artist had to retire from singing and performing following a nearly fatal stroke in 2013, Travis is still incredibly present in the world of country music (and recently the Price is Right).

The “Deeper Than the Holler” singer still makes appearances from time to time – including this past week during one of Lainey Wilson’s tour stops in Thackerville, Oklahoma at the WinStar World Casino.

While Lainey was performing, she took some time to pay tribute to one of her idols, introducing Randy Travis to the crowd and bringing him onstage with her for some well-deserved recognition:

“I want to introduce to the stage one of my heroes. One of the reasons I fell in love with country music. A dear friend of mine now, y’all give it up for the one, the only, country music legend Randy Travis.”

Travis was then brought out by his wife Mary Davis as the crowd in Oklahoma cheered and applauded. Lainey pushed him out to center stage, where she said “he belonged,” and continued to speak highly of the country music icon:

“This is so crazy. I get to call this family a friend of mine now. They come to my shows all the time, any time I’m anywhere near. Y’all show up.

And when you have Randy Travis side stage, first of all that’s a little nerve-wracking. Not going to lie to you. But also, it makes me feel like I can really do this and it makes me feel like I’ve got a place in this industry.”

The 64-year-old was smiling from ear to ear as he shared the moment with the reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year. I think I can speak for everyone when I say that it was a touching moment with Travis and Wilson up on stage.
