Nike Released A Fitting Victor Wembanyama “Alien” Ad Just As The Solar Eclipse Happened

Monday’s solar eclipse was, you might say, “far out” or “extra-terrestrial, dude!” and you’d be quite literally correct. Understanding that we all, in essence, come from the stardust of the larger universe, there are some human being who simply do not appear as if they originated from Earth.

San Antonio Spurs rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama is one of those humans. Capitalizing on the exotic cosmic event of a solar eclipse, Nike Basketball dropped an awesome ad with an all-time Wemby personal brand logo reveal.

How hard does that logo go? My word.

Wembanyama is only 20 years old, and what he’s doing in his first year in the NBA is simply ridiculous. The sad part is — and I’ve bloviated about this numerous times to anyone who’ll listen or read — the Spurs wasted his maiden stateside season with a terrible roster around him. Also, Wemby is probably not going to win Defensive Player of the Year.

I bet him to do so before the season. That’s how you know it ain’t gonna happen. Does he deserve it? Yes. Yes he does…

Rudy Gobert will for sure get it. For the fourth time in his career. Because nobody’s ever done it before. And that’s how those things work. Then, Gobert will proceed to make a minimal impact in the games that matter most. He’ll beon the couch after the second round of the playoffs at best, despite the Timberwolves being in contention fore the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. Just watch. It’s going to happen.

Meanwhile, Wemby’s brilliance on defense and unreal versatility as a scorer spared San Antonio’s long-tenured coach Gregg Popovich the embarrassment of a very possible 0-82 winless season.

I just hope the Spurs, you know, actually try to build a real roster around Wemby. Every single superstar should want to come play in San Antonio, no matter how much longer the legendary laurels-resting Popovich is at the helm. If the Lakers flame out in the postseason, could we see a Bronny James-LeBron package deal? I doubt it, but it’s fun to contemplate. Some notables set to hit free agency are LeBron, Paul George, Jrue Holiday, Klay Thompson, and a very real candidate to return to the Spurs, DeMar DeRozan. We’ll see how that all shakes out.

All I know is, Wemby is still only beginning to discover his basketball powers, and he’s already the most devastating shot-blocker by a country mile in the sport. Not to mention, he has handles on par with a quality point guard, easy 3-point range, and Go-Go Gadget Arms that allow him to transcend what would otherwise be a contested shot more often than not. A true alien indeed, who’s about to eclipse every other superstar in the sport in the coming years.

Well done, Nike. Y’all crushed it with that Caitlin Clark ad a while back, too.
