“I Went Hard There For A Minute” – Kacey Musgraves Reflects On Her Stoner Phase

“Roll out of bed, hit the gravity bong that I made…”

Has easily become a fan favorite line from Kacey Musgraves’ title single off her new album, Deeper Well. While the song is about shedding things that no longer serve you and growing up and out of those sometimes bad habits, fans latched on to this verse.

Well… maybe the stoners of Musgraves’ fanbase did.

Musgraves had always advocated for some recreational gardening (if you will), being an early artist in the genre to say outright she likes getting high. If we take a walk down memory lane, we see this in the title for the track “High Time,” lyrics in “Dandelion,” and her famously iconic line from “Follow Your Arrow:”

“When the straight and narrow gets a little too straight
Roll up a joint, or don’t
Just follow your arrow wherever it points, yeah…”

In an interview with Cut Magazine, she noted that she has grown out of this behavior, saying:

“Sorry, y’all! It’s not for this chapter.”

While she might have quit weed for now, that’s not stopping her from talking about it at shows. During a recent show, Musgraves found herself giggling, reflecting on how much of a stoner she used to be.

“I went hard there for a minute; I don’t know; I was literally such a stoner. I always had weed in any…you could open any purse in my house…you know.”

She says as she acts out weed falling out of every purse. She’s honestly so real for talking about this so openly… protect this woman at all costs.
