A beautiful music video for a beautiful song.
Miranda Lambert and Enrique Iglesias released a duet called “Space In My Heart” a few weeks ago, which Iglesias wrote with Carlos Paucar, Simon Wilcox, Ross Golan and Nolan Lambroza.
Enrique is a latin pop artist originally from Spain, and has had recorded popular songs like “Dirty Dancer (with Usher, featuring Lil Wayne),” “Could I Have This Kiss Forever? (with Whitney Houston),” “I Like It (featuring Pitbull)” and his mega hit, “Hero.”
And if the Texas/Latin connection sounds familiar here, it’s because Iglesias’ dad Julio Iglesias worked with the great Willie Nelson on multiple occasions in the 80’s. They earned a #1 hit on the country charts with their 1984 duet “To All the Girls I’ve Loved Before,” which they later won a CMA Award for Vocal Duo of the Year.
In addition, in 1988, their song “Spanish Eyes” peaked in the Top 10 at U.S. country radio as a minor hit, so it’s cool to see Miranda and Enrique kind of carrying on that tradition in a sense.
“Space In My Heart” is a simple love ballad that finds them wishing they could be together, because “there’s a space in my heart and it’s just your shape.” The production is definitely more pop-leaning, and considering this is technically Enrique’s song, that makes sense.
And yesterday, they released a simple but gorgeous music video that finds the two of them singing to each other with a simple backdrop full of gorgeous silk and satin. Miranda looks absolutely stunning, and I appreciate the less flashy nature of the video, especially considering what a global pop star Enrique is and the fact that this is his song.
Of course, as we all know at this point, country is the “hot thing” in music right now, and this probably won’t be the last of the country/pop collabs. And with Enrique being an international latin pop star, should they wind up sending this to mainstream Top 40 radio, the potential for this to be a massive hit for both of them is pretty huge.
This is probably one of the less annoying attempts at a pop/country crossover, and they both sound great. It’s a really pretty song, and you can check it the new video below.
