37 years ago today.

On this date in 1987, The King George Strait was topping the country charts with his 7th studio album Ocean Front Property.

The record was his first to debut at #1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart, and of course, includes classic #1 hits like the title track, “All My Ex’s Live in Texas” and “Am I Blue.”

“Ocean Front Property” was written by the great Dean Dillon, Hank Cochran and Royce Porter, as the narrator describes how, in the wake of a breakup, he’ll never miss his ex or ever want to get back together with her.

But in reality, as he admits later, the likelihood of him moving on is about as good as the chances of finding an “ocean front property” in landlocked Arizona.

While you’re here, you should definitely check out the story Dean told about how he actually hates the song… it’s awesome.

And I mean, there ain’t a butter that’s smoother than this man anywhere on planet earth… The King’s delivery is simply phenomenal, per the usual:

“All My Ex’s Live In Texas”

“Am I Blue”
