Mother Of Kansas City Shooting Suspect Starts GoFundMe FOR HIM… During This “Tragic Time He Is Going Through”

Lyndell Mays’ mother has since deleted a GoFundMe she set up for her son after Tuesday’s court hearing.

Teneal Burnside started the fundraiser, which highlighted an image of her son, 23, lying in a hospital bed. The messaging on the since-deleted page asked folks to donate towards his medical expenses during this “tragic time.”

Mays suffered nine bullet wounds from the shooting, which he admitted to STARTING.

The description of the fundraiser noted.

“I ask to all, please help by donating to help him with his medical bills during this tragic time he is going through. He is in the ICU fighting for a recovery from several surgeries from going to the Chiefs’ Super Bowl celebration with his older sister to getting shot multiple times at a time that was meant to bring so much joy to so many has brought pain and sadness to all that was attending.”

Utterly shameless…

Mays was charged yesterday (Feb. 20th) with second-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon. The GoFundMe has since been deleted from the platform but had raised $100 prior to the deletion.

Mays and Dominic Miller (the second gunman) are being held right now at $1 million bond. Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that the gunfire broke out after a “verbal altercation,” which resulted in the death of a woman, and over 20 people wounded:

“A verbal altercation occurred and gunfire broke out with no regard for thousands of other individuals in the area. Mays confirmed that he drew his gun first … and started shooting, all because they said, ‘I’m going to get you,’ and to him, that meant, ‘I’m going to kill you.’ Mays stated the other individuals started shooting only after [he] shot first.”

When investigators asked Mays why he started an altercation with Miller’s group, the alleged gunman’s response was also noted in the court documents.

“Stupid, man. Just pulled a gun out and started shooting. I shouldn’t have done that. Just being stupid.”

Stupid? STUPID? That’s certainly one way to put it… callous disregard for human life is another. Unconscionably reckless is another, or you know, what about murderous? Evil? Wicked? Those words work too. Locking your keys in your car is “stupid.” Opening fire into a crowd of people over a “verbal altercation” with someone you’ve allegedly never even met before goes far beyond “stupid.”

Two juveniles have also been charged in connection with the shooting. It was announced late last week that the two unnamed suspects had been slapped with gun charges, as well as resisting arrest. Their identities haven’t been released because they’re both minors, but it’s possible that additional charges could be coming for them, and they could end up being tried as adults.

Our thoughts and prayers still go to those who were directly impacted by the tragic events of what should have been a joyous day.
