Snowboarders Watch A Goat Run Full Tilt (AKA Fly) Down The Side Of A Mountain

Chamois flies down mountain

I’d really like to know why this goat was running full speed down the side of this mountain. If I were the people filming this video, I would be a little concerned that this animal knows something that I don’t. Could it be running from something?

It appears that the “goat” is actually a “goat-antelope” called a chamois, which is native to many of the well known European mountain ranges (Alps, Carpathian, Balkan). These animals usually live in high elevation mountain ranges, but it seems that this one might be changing its mind because it is hauling a** down this mountain. This goat is running like its girlfriend just texted him that her parents aren’t home…

Seriously, I don’t think I’ve ever seen an animal run this fast straight down a mountain… it’s basically flying. Cheetahs can top out around 80 miles per hour, but this chamois might be topping out around 90 in this video. If someone photoshopped Vin Diesel driving a Camaro down the mountain alongside the goat-antelope, it could be a legitimately believable trailer for the next Fast and Furious movie.

My favorite part of the video is when the chamois literally catches air as it accidentally ramps off a rock it runs over. The hang time is impressive, but it lost points for not doing a 180 degree spin. Shaun White would not approve.

And if it did live up at the top of the mountain, it is going to have a hell of a time getting back up to the peak. Going down the mountain is the easy part, so maybe it is trying to make up for some lost time by “shredding the gnar” on the way down.

Again, I would be pretty worried that the goat seems to be risking its life to run at full speed down the mountain. I don’t want to reach here, but I think this chamois might’ve just been face to face with the infamous Abominable Snowman.
