“I ain’t your hooker, your nanny or your maid…”

Go ahead and preach, Ashland Craft.

She released a new single called “Hooker” a few weeks ago, and it’s a must-listen if you’ve ever been in a relationship with a man who just doesn’t seem to pull his own weight in the relationship, so to speak.

Co-written by Ashland along with Corey Wager, she says it was inspired by Corey’s husband after she told her she’d “always wanted to write a song for him,” which is equal parts funny as it is relatable:

I laughed almost the whole way through, because the writing is so refreshingly honest and relatable that, if you’ve ever found yourself in this situation before (and I think most of us have), you can’t help but find it somewhat amusing because it’s just the nature of so many relationships, I think:

“This ain’t 1940, I got a hard job too
And I don’t need three more as soon as I come home to you
Hell yeah, these hands can do a lot, but I’ve only got two
And honey, there’s just so much that one person can do

Hooker, nanny or maid
It seems like that’s all you want these days
But the only way I’ll be all of those is if I’m getting paid
Right now, you think you’ve got it made, well
I ain’t your hooker, your nanny or your maid”

I mean if you know, you know…

She says it so much better than I can trying to explain it, so make sure you listen for yourself below. I promise you won’t regret it:
