“When Life Hands You Lemons, Joe Biden Kills You With Them” – Viral Donald Trump Quote About Panera Charged Lemonade Has Been Debunked

Former president Donald Trump was COOKING with this quote…except that he never said it at all.

If you’ve been on social media lately, you’ve probably heard of Panera’s “murder lemonade,” which has unreal caffeine levels and has tragically caused two people with preexisting conditions to pass away after drinking the beverage.

You’ve also probably seen a series of viral images of Donald Trump appearing to talk about the Panera lemonade, which was unofficially hilarious, but officially not true. Someone online took a couple of screen grabs from a Trump speech in Iowa and overlayed some fake closed captioning, and the internet fell for it.

And you can’t really blame them for being gullible, because the quote did, in fact, sound like something the former president would say. Plus, when has closed captioning let us down? Subtitles are supposed to be the one thing we can all depend on.

In the viral post (which has since been declared digitally altered and fake by Forbes), Donald Trump was speaking in front of a crowd in Iowa and “said” this:

“Everything is bad under Biden. Even the lemonade is killing people. Did you see that? People drink lemonade and die. The lemonade didn’t kill you when I was President. It was tasty and fun to drink. We loved the lemonade, didn’t we?

We did, but not under Biden. Bacon is more money. Gas is more money. The lemonade is more money and it kills you. When life hands you lemons, Joe Biden kills you with them.”

You can see why people fell for it, right? The subtitles nailed the cadence and verbal tics that Trump usually depends on, and he blamed the “death lemonade” on President Joe Biden, which is right up Trump’s alley as well.

As you can see, the community note has been added to the post to let people know Trump never actually said that, but X (formerly Twitter) certainly had some fun with it while the status of its validity was still up in the air:
