It’s no secret that Taylor Sheridan has put together one of the best TV sagas of all time, starting with Yellowstone and its two prequel series, 1923 and 1883. And with two other spinoffs on the way, one set in the 40s and another in rumored to star Matthew McConaughey in the modern day, the Yellowstone universe shows no signs of slowing down.
But despite the show’s commercial success, when it comes to yearly award ceremonies, Yellowstone typically gets the short end of the stick. Although it’s one of the most popular TV shows in the country, Yellowstone, along with 1883 and 1923, have been largely ignored by Hollywood.
But, things began to change earlier year when Yellowstone finally won a major award, as Kevin Costner was awarded Best Actor in a Drama Series at the Golden Globes for his role as John Dutton. Fast forward almost a year later, and the Golden Globes are showing love for Taylor Sheridan’s saga once again, as 1923 has been nominated for “Best Television Drama Series.”
1923 was nominated along with The Crown, The Diplomat, The Last of Us, The Morning Show, and Succession.
On top of that, Helen Mirren was nominated for “Best Performance By an Actress in a Television Drama Series” for her role as Cara Dutton in 1923. Mirren was nominated alongside Bella Ramsey (The Last of Us), Keri Russell (The Diplomat), Sarah Snook (Succession), Imelda Staunton (The Crown), Emma Stone (The Curse).
Needless to say, it’s awesome to see the Yellowstone saga to receive recognition from major Hollywood award shows.
And if you haven’t seen 1923 yet, it might just be Sheridan’s best work to date:
