Last Thursday, the NASCAR Champion’s Week came to a close, ending with Ryan Blaney being honored as the 2023 Cup Series champion.

The win was Blaney’s first ever Cup Series championship, claiming the title in the season finale last month at Phoenix Raceway. Although Ross Chastain finished first in the race, Blaney edged out playoff contenders Kyle Larson and William Byron, while Christopher Bell was knocked out early in the race, to claim the overall championship.

I can only imagine the happiness and excitement Blaney was feeling before taking the podium at Nashville’s Music City Center on Thursday night, as he told the crowd:

“I know, all the competitors, we don’t agree all the time, but it is a true honor to race with the best in the world on a weekly basis, and I do appreciate that.”

And to add some icing to the cake, Blaney was introduced to the stage by his favorite southern rock band on the planet…

Whiskey Myers.

As a surprise, Cody Cannon and the boys took the mic, with Cannon telling the crowd:

“Thank y’all for having us out. We couldn’t be more proud of our good buddy, he’s an amazing driver and even a better human being.”

Lead guitarist John Jeffers also added:

“And clearly he’s got great taste in music. Ryan, we’re proud of you pad, we’re honored to be asked to do this, so with that being said please welcome the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series champion Mr. Ryan Blaney.”

Needless to say, you can see the excitement on Blaney’s face as he shook hands and hugged the Whiskey Myers boys.
