US Senator (And Former MMA Fighter) Markwayne Mullin Tries To Fight Witness During Senate Hearing

Can we just bring back mutual combat to settle our political differences?

Everybody knows that our political system is a clown show right now. Nobody can agree on anything, nothing ever gets done, and the only winners are the politicians in DC who somehow manage to get rich and make millions of dollars while in office.

It’s an embarrassment.

But one US Senator is apparently willing to fight for what he believes in – literally, fight on the Senate floor.

During a hearing of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, Senator Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma read a tweet from witness and Teamsters Union president Sean O’Brien challenging the senator to a fight:

Well apparently Mullin accepted the challenge:

“Sir this is a time, this is a place. You want to run your mouth, we can be two consenting adults. We can finish it here.”

When O’Brien agreed to go at it right there in the hearing room, Mullin was ready to take him on:

“Well stand your butt up then.”

Mullin then stood up and began to take off his wedding ring before committee chair Bernie Sanders stepped in to regain order in the room:

“Sit down. You’re a United States Senator.”

Unfortunately we never got to see the brawl go down, but if I were challenging a senator to a fight I probably wouldn’t pick Markwayne Mullin. The senator is a former MMA fighter, winning all three of the fights he’s competed in.

But if you ask me, this seems like a pretty good way to settle our political debates.
